asking about the olympics? seriously? they realize that's in 2020?

You've got to understand that since we were robbed of Kyrie (jokes), and Exum having worrying injury issues, having a potential superstar in the making is a big deal down here.

Then couple that with our constant capitulations in the Olympics when it gets to crunch time - and there you have your cringey questions.

Yeah they clearly want to get him on record as early and often as possible. Gotta lock him in. I still don't think he'll play in the world championships though.

Well he actually IS almost the same height. They are less than an inch apart.

Yeah and I think that shocks people when they've seen him on tape playing point guard and moving with speed and handling the ball like he is 6ft 1. Simmons is also a low dribbler which makes him look like a smaller guard, unlike most bigs who are cumbersome and the ball comes up to their chest when they dribble.

Simmons is great and is on track for a HOF career , the passing, the explosiveness ,basketball iq, etc are all off the charts but what I really like about him is that he has that killer instinct no nonsense attitude. He acts like an old school player and not a lot of superficial banter with the opponents. People say he is showtime lakers re-incarnated, but he would fit in great with the bad boys pistons.

When I watched Iverson in my late teens it was excitement and awe.....when I watch Simmons it's excitement and PRIDE. I guess that's what age does to you....you're proud a player like this represents your city.

I remember about a year ago when Lavar Ball had a lucid moment and insisted the Lonzo needed to get much stronger to bang with the pros. Last night, Luke Walton took him out the game when the Sixers spread the floor for Ben to abuse him for not wanting to play physical defense. Lonzo Ball is a heady defender in that he has good anticipation for passing lanes, and he has good hands. But (like our Nerlens) he doesn't care to stick his chest out and hold position, especially against bigger guys. Ben was literally going to dunk on him every time until Walton did him the solid of sitting him down. Pure destruction.

...

Man do I love me some Brandon Ingram. Not more than Ben, of course. Leading up to the draft, I tried to concoct all types of scenarios where we traded up to get Ben and Brandon. I would scrap all plans for free agency and take Luol Deng and whatever contract they need to get rid of to get Paul George and Lebron, if we could get Brandon Ingram in the deal. I don't care who you'd put around them, simmons-ingram-covington-embiid cannot be beat for the next decade.

Pipe dream, I know.

One rebound away from a triple double, 8-13 from the field, five steals to one turnover, and a block---all becomes a sidenote to Joel's 46. Wow!

There was a question in Embiid's post game interview in regards to Robert's big shots he takes/makes. Sometimes the guys are like, no don't shoot that, and he hits it. Lately my "don't shoot that" mentality with Simmons driving in has changed completely. He's making some incredible old-school shots. Long hooks, finger rolls, bailing us out with the shot clock low. Really impressed with the diversity of his offensive game down low when it's obviously restricted to that area.

It's funny how the announcers see him shoot with his left, and then when he finishes with his right they call it his "off hand", whereas in reality he is right hand dominant, and is actually SHOOTING with his off hand.

He is a very unconventional player.

I hate how announcers for games and people who talk on the radio who aren't from the Philly area look at Ben's 3 point attempts and spew nonsense that he's 0-7 on 3s. They need to put it in context. All those 3s are full court heaves at the end of quarters. I know they don't follow the Sixers like us and need to know about all 30 teams instead of focusing on 1 but if you're going to talk about a franchise player who could be a top player in the game one day and you talk about his positives and negatives I would hope you get a good research team to tell you that all those 3s are heaves and not normal 3s.

I wonder when Simmons decides to shoot with his left hand or right hand. For example if foul shots were 10 feet away would he shoot them with his right hand? If Ben started 1 foot away from the basket and then moved back a foot after each shot when would he switch from right to left?

whenever he reaches a distance where he thinks his push shot / floater is not as reliable as his jump shot / set shot.

I want to know the line of demarcation. I demand to have Simmons shoot free throws starting from 1 foot out to 15 feet to see when he switches hands. Make it happen.

He shoots all jump shots left handed regardless of distance, but he feels more comfortable with his touch shots with his right hand.

I’ve seen him shoot half court shots right handed.
