Anyway, if we get to the level of where a team like Boston or GS is, we could likely get one too. If your team improves from within, people want to play there, like Butler to the TWolves, Horford, Irving and Hayward in Boston and Durant.

But yeah, if we are still terrible people won't want to sign here. What top tier free agents sign with bottom tier teams? I mean George Hill and Zach Randolph signed with the Kings, but I wouldn't consider them top tier. Other than that it usually takes a big market.

If we begin to be competitive and are in the playoff hunt, people will likely start to consider it, particularly since it's going to take a couple years at least. I don't see many of the big names switching teams in 2019 anyway. Most of the other names wither seem too old or are wings...most of these guys will be well past their primes, are very likely to stay, or we won't want (Kyrie, Dwight, Chris Paul, Bledsoe, Middleton, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Khris Middleton, Harrison Barnes)...Butler is a FA but I doubt he goes anywhere....then you have some centers like Whiteside, Vucevic and Valanciunas. One guy that we might be able to get at that point is Kevin Love, but not sure how he'd fit or if we'd want him.

For PGs, there will be Walker (doubt he moves), Teague, Beverley, Collison, McConnell, Dinwiddie, Ish Smith, Bayless

Which guys would you target in 2019 that you think might leave their teams?
Wolves were also 'under new management' and Butler played under Thibodeau. Irving and Hayward joined a top team in the East. Durant sold his soul for glory. I think the quality of a front office is a consideration for top FA's. When you're a top FA, you don't 'audition' for teams, teams come to sell their vision. Right now we don't really have much of a direction, we're kinda just hoping our players develop well and we have giant hole in two super important positions.

Not saying we can't attract a Hayward type player (a tier or two below 'elite') but I think if we kept on going as we are with McD treating players like assets, even if we're up and coming, I could see us having to really overpay or those players put us a few notches lower on their list of teams they want to play for. If we're still terrible, they won't sign here that's a given.

At this point, I'm not even looking at 2019 because it really depends how we are playing and whether our guys are panning out. If our young guys aren't developing as we expect, then we may go in a different direction. By 2019, Booker's likely maxed out extension will hit the books, we'll need to make decisions on Bender/Chriss (whether we keep or replace) and McD will be in the last year of his deal. If we don't show some promise and a reasonable amount of internal development/improvement these next two seasons, we could go with a soft reset, keeping only Booker.

Ultimately we just have to build from within like many teams do. Orlando is finally clicking with mostly players they drafted or players they got in random trades like Fournier and Ross. They gave up good players in Dipo and Harris but are playing well under a good coach.

If you end up signing a top tier free agent, you usually have to overpay to get them and/or give them a max. Either our drafted players will pan out in the next couple of years or McD will end up likely being gone anyway.

As far as I know though, the players still around on our team don't have problems with the FO, except for probably Len. The Suns issues with certain players will be forgotten. Not my Rich Paul but I don't want his clients anyway. But we've never signed a top tier free agent and I wouldn't expect it regardless. The closest we've come to signing pretty big names has been under McD though, other than signing Nash.

What might be a bigger issue is the attitudes and players wanting to fight other teams all the time...and whining at the refs. Other players might just start to dislike our team in general if that keeps happening.

The Grizzlies have surprised this year. They already beat the Warriors and then beat the Rockets twice and recently beat the Clips and Blazers on the road. They are on the 2nd game of a b2b after playing a close game with the Bucks last night.

They are a team that can't blow it up because they are a small market with a pretty loyal fanbase. They love Conley and Gasol.

They keep finding solid players late in the draft too. Dillon Brooks playing really well for them..

I mentioned a few times how much I liked Dillon Brooks and Jordan Bell in this draft and they both are playing really well.

If they have surprised and are still sitting at 7-7 and the current 8th seed then that's not something to celebrate.

Completely agree on the challenges of being a small market team, and agree that this is probably the reason they won't blow it up, but instead ride the vets into the sunset and start the process in a few years, after they have diminished trade value.

You mention their ability to find good players late in the draft - I wouldn't see this as justification to delay a rebuild though, but rather to embrace it.

I don't think they were projected to make the playoffs, so being in the mix is a good thing. But yeah, as long as they are hanging around within a few games of the playoffs, I don't see them trading anyone. If they suddenly were just a really bad team definitely going nowhere and in like 11th or 12th place for a couple years in a row, they might feel otherwise. I think they'd even be ok with one year thinking they would bounce back.

They've made the playoffs 7 years in a row. Not every team is championship or bust...not most teams..they would love a championship but getting into the playoffs and providing a competitive enjoyable product for the fans is a big accomplishment. We should know.

[Green font]Guys, just face it, we're a garbage organization that shouldn't even have a fan base. I say we disband this RealGm board entirely, because there is literally no point in this team existing. I, for one, am becoming a Rockets fan. I'll be at the game tomorrow, ironically wearing a Suns jersey, to let this pitiful excuse for an organization believe they actually have fans.[/green font]
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Anyway we can get Brandon Ingram?

I would trade Criss, Monroe, and a pick for Ingram and Deng (Contract))

Probably a horrible trade lol That is why I am not a GM.

Would you guys like Brandon Ingram on the team?

I'd like Ingram, but not a fan of trading Chriss at all given his development of late. If he can be a 3 point shooting rim protector with his athleticism we shouldn't be moving him.

Why do we want 3 starters at the same position again.

Well, in this hypothetical, all 3 are very versatile and can play a number of positions. It's a good problem to have versatility. Ingram can play the 3/4, Chriss the 4/5, Bender the 3/4/5.

I want Shelvin Mack. High assist percentage, short term deal. Good enough to help develop the youth and won't cost any major assets. Augustine is playing really well for the Magic and Mack is playing off the ball on the second unit.

If we can send Dudley and DJJ for Mack and Hezonja we can shed an extra +/- $9 million from the cap next off-season. Just don't think Magic need JD.

Brandon Ingram is going to be good. I would love to have

Booker, Warren, Jackson, Bender, Ingram, AYTON | Porter | DONCIC | BAMBA to build around

You think Ingram would be the rosterbate lol we could get him.

If I wanted to rosterbate I would get Anthony Davis or Durant here with Booker.

It's seems highly unlikely. I would guess that future pick(s) will be used to move Deng. Hypothetically Ingram would fit well between LBJ and PG13.

IF they flip him I think it's for an established star and only after a massively successful run at free agency.

I am convinced that we have some regular posters here who are closet laker fans or something.

Embiid is absolutely ridiculous. It's amazing seeing a guy his size attacking off the dribble and pulling out eurosteps, dominating in the post, draining 3s, controlling the paint on defense, and distributing like he does. The only question with him is health, because the dude can straight up ball.

He is unreal truly reminds me of the Dream but might have a better shot. If he can stay healthy he is going to be unstoppable in another year or two. Heck might already be the best C in the NBA.
