Bojan has been really good

Post#1 » by Jstock12 » Sat Nov 18, 2017 11:05 am

I think he deserves some praise. He's been a fantastic pick up for the Pacers this season.

To put what he's doing into perspective, here's a list of all the players in the NBA history with at least 50% from the field, 40% from three with at least 4 attempts per game, and 80% from the FT line:

Now, you could say 'what about his defense'... Sure, he's not a lockdown defender by any means, but he's not horrible either. He gives great effort on that end and does his best.

P.S. I know that there's a reasonable chance he won't be able to sustain these numbers for the whole season, but I just wanted to point out just how good he has been so far. Without Bojan's floor-spacing this team would not have a .500 record.

His our silent assassin, he dosent do any flashy stuff, so sometimes you wont even notice how valuable he is.

When you think about it, he's actually the complete opposite of Lance both as a player, and personality-wise.

After a slow start, he is really seeming to come around.

I also think Bojan has been much better on defense than advertised. He uses his length really well and typically has good positioning.

He's playing well. I like that he's shown good ability to put the ball on the ground and attack the paint - it keeps him dangerous as teams need to be mindful about closing out too hard and of course he continues to knock down open shots with ease.

He's been much better than I thought he'd be. As of right now I see no way we don't keep him next year.

Agree completely. I can see him aging into an offensive spark off the bench after the draft gives us a wing.

Still not good enough for me to remain a starter :)

We need a good defensive wing because Oladipo has to carry the offensive load.

As a bench player he is an upgrade over CJ Miles. Higher BBIQ and more realiable shooting with less ups and downs.

Impressive start nonetheless :)

Would love to read more about the environment where he grew up as a person.

He was 3-4 years old when the war in his country broke out and he is born in de city of Mostar, known for it's famous bridge, that was blown up during the war. Don't know how much involved he was but if he was involved, hitting important shots when it really matters, like CJ Miles had to do against Cleveland in the playoffs, isn't that stressfull anymore if you grew up in a war zone as a child.

He was 3 year old when war began in his town, but I think that they moved small kids in secure area, and he was to small to remember the war... first he was playing soccer, but as he grew fast he started to play basketball... at age of 16 he was transfered to Real Madrid as one of the most talented young player in Europe... so he was forced to grow up faster as a stranger in the new country... but I dont belive that is the reason why is he hitting important shots... you just have that in your head or you dont... there are a lot of players who comes from war zones and became a busts...

Bojan does what he knows how to do. He scores. He has always been one of the most talented scorers of his generation. He proved it time and time again with Cibona and Fenerbahçe. He proved it again with Croatia in the '16 Olympics.

So, I'm not surprised by his play. He is a good player to have.

in the long run, sure. but there's no rush. no need to give up draft picks to replace him. for now he's a much better fit than most of us expected.

I'm guessing... DC is good enough to remain a starter? Maybe we could find a better defensive PG so Bojan can as a starter as a primary shooter?

Bogie and DC are both older than our future and both are playing well now. in the onion theory of team building, they are on the layer that will be peeled off when younger players emerge. Thad is also on that layer. that said, there is no need to replace them now.

I'll take a smart, deadly offensive player (with some defensive shortcomings) anytime. Scoring 20+ while causing 10 point be scored cause of you - that's pure profit ;)

The way the league is going I agree. League is promoting offense by making it harder and harder on the defense which makes the gap between good and average defenders smaller and smaller.

I'll take him off the bench 8-)

Defensive chains are only as strong as their weakest link. The Hill/Lance/PG/Danny/West/Hibbert was so good defensively not because Hibbert was a worthy DPOY candidate, but because it's weakest link was still good defensively.

Bojan isn't good enough for me. Sure, he is smarter than many players, but that doesn't give him length or foot speed.
I want a good defensive wing who can hit his shots. :)

Every opponent player has some kind of advantage from Bogdanovic defending, because you defend as a team, not as an individual.
