I take blame for the collapse soon after. We had a cupcake schedule on the horizon and, as we were in the process of beating the Bucks to go 9-2, I turned to my friend at the game and proceeded to imitate Nostradukis (an Atlanta Sports radio inside joke), saying: "I'm starting to look ahead! I am looking at 15-2!" My friend was going crazy saying I just jinxed the team but I was sure in my confidence...

The Hawks then proceeded to lose 10 out of their next 11 games after that.

How'd we manage to do that :( . I can't even remember that far back. All I remember is Bazeless and his contract shooting something like 11 % from 3.

 Baze was shooting as if he had his contract in his hand at the time.

Or on his face.

Dwight Howard has been fined $25,000 for making an obscene gesture toward a fan.

The incident occurred with 1:15 remaining in the 2nd quarter of the Hornets’ 112-94 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, Nov. 5 at Target Center.

Reading the Dwight thread on the Charlotte board is hilarious - they sound just like we did last year.

"We will see" what? They sound just like we did early last season.

Seems like he figured we were suggesting that things have failed in CHA whereas, in actuality, we'd simply stated that they sound like us early late season.

Kind of a premature reaction on his part I guess.

HorCats are now 5-9, lost to Bulls. Lost 6 in a row. Like i said, just like Hawks last year - start strong then tail off.
The Dwight Howard effect is very real.

Also a positive from the game last night was that the Bulls won. I was watching the last 5 minutes and rooting for the Bulls all the way. Kemba had a career type of night but it wasn't enough. X Hawk Justin Holiday had a really good game. He was their MVP last night.

Bulls need to keep on winning so that we could use a win on the Celtics tonight ;-)

I really ... really wanna bump all those threads on the general board citing his resurgence. I don't wanna be that guy tho. I'll wait for someone else to do it then pile on. :)

You were right guys. Clifford fed us a poo poo platter about knowing Dwights strengths and being familiar with him and playing him the right way. The Hornets are a mess right now.

I don't blame you for buying into the hype like we did last year. You look at Dwight and you see a physical beast who's nearly unmatched in the paint. He's also really good at convincing you that all of his immature moments are behind him and that he really has turned this new leaf.

It's all good at the start of the season and you actually feel justified for believing in him. However, when the season muddies into its middle stages Dwight's true character reveals itself and you feel foolish for ever buying into the hype in the first place.

I said on another board, give it 10 games, Dwight will regress once his back flares up. I think the problem is his back. He has the T-Mac issue. His back is fried.

I never "fell for the hype". I still believe he's an upgrade over Miles Plumlee. One issue is that we traded that draft pick we acquired for cash and ended up drafting Dwayne Bacon who has been horrible in major replacement minutes for Batum's injury.

But yes I am quite negative on Clifford's inability to utilize Dwight... I don't get why Dwight cant accept coming off the bench. It's like he'd rather lose for every team in the league instead

But when you factor in the fact that Plumlee won't force your coach to change the offense to get him touches in order for him to show a modicum of effort on D, is Howard really an upgrade?

And yes, Howard would rather lose than sacrifice. Don't let that smile fool ya. Well, that's not fair. It's not that he'd rather lose, it's that he still doesn't realize (accept?) what he needs to do in 2017-NBA in order to really contribute to winning.

To me it's not that Clifford (or Bud) doesn't know how to utilize Dwight, it's that he just can't do it anymore. Not consistently. If he catches the ball outside the lane he doesn't give you a better chance at a basket than most guys shooting a 3. So what's the point?

The point is that Dwight doesn't need to score too be effective. As long as he's not blowing FT's, stepping out of bounds, or setting illegal screens he can still be a good player. It's trying to score that offsets all the postives he brings to the table

Everyone understands that except Dwight. The things you want him to do to help you win he won't or can't anymore.
He can't fix his free throws, it's a lost cause, but his relectance to set a solid legal screen, his affinity for illegal screens, his inability to defend the PnR and the careless turnovers magnify his problems.
