It might be in your best interest to trade for Monroe rather than wait for him to be waived for two reasons.

1. You could move salary in the signing which would be a huge financial savings being over the lux tax.
2. You obtain Bird Rights for Monroe, so if he does work out for you, and you want to keep him, you can sign him without having to clear salary. If you pick him up after a buyout its this year only.

I have no idea what he is worth in trade. For the Suns, it would have to be something they would like. If they do a buyout, its straight savings. If they are going to take on salary, I imagine it would cost something. Some future draft pick probably.

I'm sure Cavs only interest is bid low after a buyout.
If we were to trade for him not sure who we would part with for a overpaid backup 5
Unless we trade them Thompson and make Monroe the starter ,but like I said previously they would have to take Frye and give us Chriss or agree to swap Nets pick for their own which seems unlikely.

I don't really see it. Monroe's just not good enough defensively to really help in the post season this year. Then you get into who are you sending out to absorb his contract. You're really talking about TT or Frye/Shump. Both Frye & Shump are kind of contributing right now. Sadly, TT is currently our best defensive big man.

Then there's the question of what do the Suns get out of it & if it's a future draft pick that's something the Cavs really shouldn't be doing for a player like Monroe.

Deadline deal if both teams are still under performing. And if Nets are projecting to have a better record than top 5 pick. (6-14 range more likely)Cavs send Nets 1st top 3 protected , Charlotte sends a future 2nd

Not sure I see the motivation for Charlotte.

None. Shump maybe but I feel like the Bucks should add a second given the extra year.

Right now I would do it in a heartbeat [edit]
but we probably would want to give you an additional salary as Frye is owed less than Delly even though the trade works for the 2 player swap.
Maybe a potential deal after December 15th when Calderon can be traded and you can waive him.Maybe you would get a future 2nd for taking him.
I don't see us giving up anyone else unless they want to part with rose who can't stay on the floor. I definitely do not see us trading either of the Euros For Delly. So I'm not so sure Milwaukee would be that interested.
If they want Frye for his floor stretching ability than maybe, but if it's just for cap flexibility I doubt it.
Also not sold on us be willing to move a veteran big who can stretch the floor and is the only big besides Love on the roster that can.
I think Frye could be packaged in a deal for an upgrade big with similar offensive ability that is a better defender(younger).
His expiring makes it attractive to several other teams looking for cap space after this year as well and might be willing to offer more than a back up pg on a hefty salary for a backup, yet to be determined.
I would do it though given Delly has a history with Cleveland and a few of our starters and could step in as the starter until IT returns or swap minutes with Shumpert and Rose.
Calderon is the worst defensive pg in the league at this point in his career so he is gone via trade or waive after december 15th regardless of if any team is willing to take and waive to make a trade work.Honestly I can't believe he is still on the roster

If Rose ends up missing more than 2 weeks and Shumpert continues to have reoccurring knee problems I think Crowder Calderon out /Joseph(solid pg) Anigbogu ( raw rim runner) in ;after Calderon becomes trade eligible on 12-15-17 seems reasonable given by then Crowder will either have or will still have not found a nitch on this roster. Not sure if that is enough for Crowder but the way he has under performed thus far it wouldn't be a bad deal for us if he continues to struggle. Joseph was solid as a backup and in starting roles with starters injured both in SA and Toronto. The main hitch here is it's Indiana & they are on Gilberts ****

I've come to the conclusion we may not be planning on moving Frye at all. He has been clutch at times and I think we need his offense more than we need an upgrade on defense. Not to say we shouldn't still look to find that moving someone else.If Zizic is too far away.
I like Crowder defensively but his offense has remained pretty stale so far in this system, not sure we can live without his defense, or if we will really need him to be a threat at all offensively against most teams, however I think he could easily be replaced in the rotation by Osman & so he could be the odd man out at the deadline given his good contract and how easy he would be to move for a player or players that fill any pressing needs down the stretch.
Don't see us finding any trades for Shumpert,Smith,Thompson etc that will make much sense as we would be taking 2 steps back to take 2 steps forward in most cases giving up those players.
We could possibly find a trade that makes sense if we are willing to add draft picks to get an upgrade return, but I am not sold this org is willing to go that direction until they think they have too, which right now is not looking like it did after a slow start.
I would keep the roster as is banking on healthy returns of those who are out and hopefully try to implement Zizic some at the end of the rotation against some oppositions if he does well in Canton which should be a mirror of our sets.
Lue's next man up policy works usually but you gotta think he needs to leapfrog both Euros into the rotation against teams that outrun our vets instead of only using them in blowouts

Would make a ton of sense if we move Thompson for a PG, otherwise don't think it's gonna happen as TT would likely only be moved for a different big if at all.
Noel has to agree to any trade and despite the defense would be a welcome addition I'm not sold he would be happy coming off the bench which given his poor offense would almost guaranteed to be the case same as TT was taken out of the starting lineup.

So would I. But you'd have to send TT out in order to have a shot at re-signing him after this season.

Nets pick to Philly with TT for Fultz and Okafor's expiring ( if he plays well we can offer him a fair deal and he will likely take it as he isn't getting "paid" anytime soon)
This is one of the only ways I would consider moving the Nets pick before the lottery balls are tumbling.
Maybe we could get Fultz and a better player than Okafor but I doubt it.
Fultz is a legit talent at the 1 guard position and really not a good fit with Simmons despite being able to play off ball as well.

Highly doubt Utah has any interest in Moving Gobert, but if they did I would offer this package along with the Nets pick and see if they bite.

Any way you'd trade that Nets pick back to the Celtics? I don't know what to do with myself without a Nets pick.

Way far off. We've got IT coming back and Delly would be our fourth PG. Frye's giving us good minutes.

This summer, I might trade Shump for Delly and allow you guys to shave a year off Delly's deal (unless we decide to just attach the guy we draft with our first to Shump & dump him). In terms of value, I can't think of a team in the league who will give you a prospect & expiring contract for Delly.

Given the fact that we wanted Tatum and Danny offered the Nets pick instead, I imagine Tatum would get it back for you.
