Meanwhile, what Aaron Gordon is doing in Orlando....
In hindsight, MKG over Bradley Beal was a very bad pick to make in 2012. Yes, it was still during a time when the discourse was "this guy can't shoot, but he'll figure it out, will be a defensive stopper and at the least will be an awesome slasher off his athleticism". But, man... Everybody also knew that Beal would at least be a 16PPG scorer as a pro.
The three-ball revolution was just around the corner and now GM's would sweat bullets if they picked someone like MKG with the second pick. That pick wouldn't have happened two years later probably.
And, guess what, he never really showed the nuclear athleticism that someone like Gerald Wallace (his draft comp.) had. Can you name a great wing athlete who couldn't really jump off one foot? MKG is even miles away from the Trevor Ariza's of the world.
Aaron Gordon is like the 2.0 MKG pick. You could already sense that this guy will just have to find his place as a 4 (and has the size for the modern 4), the shot wasn't there, yet he had actual, you know, shot mechanics and he is just flat out a much better athlete.
