Re: Season Speculation, Trade Ideas & Discussion Pt. 3
If we traded James, would his new team be bound by the days he has already played in the NBA, or do those days reset?

If it's just about winning this season we can upgrade everyone except Booker.

We can upgrade our PF spot by starting Bender. Monroe might be decent once he learns to play with these guys. Warren isn't bad. Really just need a damn PG.

Oh yeah they not only need a top pick but they also have to NAIL that pick and find another true impact player. Booker has stepped up this season but he needs another guy equal or better than him. Warren is a fine 3rd or 4th type option. Bender looks like he can develop into a solid rotation guy. Who knows with chriss and jackson at this point. After that everything is wide open.
Neither len or monroe are really worth developing because they are unrestricted fas after the season and the suns will probably have two top 14 picks in a draft heavy in centers so odds are neither will be here next year.

5 players in the league that have played 300 minutes and average 14 points, 14 rebounds per 36:
Drummond, Capela, Howard, Kanter, Len.
I think because of the UFA narrative we're not allowed to get our hopes up but if he had signed a 40/4 deal we'd be pointing these things out as good value.

HOU, GSW, SAS, and maybe Minny look like they will be there 1-4. After that there is not a ton of separation all the way down to the Suns. Every team in the West seems beatable this year.
Not sure how much we want to win, but if there was a season where it looks like there was a chance to make some noise and get into the playoffs, this might be it. What move might be able to make that happen? defensive PG? Stable PF? Not saying we would do it, but what one move do you think would get us there?
You remember the 13-14 season and its repercussions right? I'm all for going all in - this off-season.

I think we will be super aggressive with our picks and trade up for a guy like Ayton or Donic. Booker is obviously ready, Bender looks like he will be ready to contribute regularly next year and I think Jackson just needs the rest of this year to adjust to NBA speed. Warren is ready to 19/6 on 50% shooting. I really think and hope with a good pick this year we will be ready to compete for a late playoff spot next year.
"Mannnnn I’m like the guy that pissed this whole board off saying literally all year no Mikal, no Mikal in the KD trade."

I agree that we have no need for 7 firsts, 7 seconds and 16 role players, we need to attain another All-Star.
Even a combo of Beal and Wall look to be winning 40+ games for a decade.

Yeah, I also think that this will be McD's strategy, unless we luck out with a top3 pick of our own - after all these years of bad luck.
Only question is: will there be anyone who gives up a player like Ayton or Doncic for 3-4 lower picks and/or 1-2 young guys.
As we have seen with all the Boston/Brooklyn picks for (was it Winslow, or Kaminsky? I can't remember) - not very likely.
At least if I were offered the 6th+9th+15th+35th+2021Miami for Ayton or Doncic, I would say no, pretty sure. And these spots are very good/unlikely places for the Miami and the Bucks to land on.

Phoenix, Miami, Milwaukee could get us into the top 5.

Not to be a pessimist, but there is no way the suns move up into the top5.
Every team right now at the bottom has 3 things in common.
a.) they have no bad contacts
b.) they have plenty of cap space already
c.) they are not high priority FA destinations
and like you've pointed out already, if the Suns traded OUT of the top5 for a bunch of lesser picks i'd be PISSED.
At this point, we are in one of those positions where we are damned if we win and damned if we lose. If we win, then we lessen our chances at a game changing pick, and if we lose it means this board will become insufferable and these young guys we have arent progressing.

That's why I find it hard to think that #thetimeline strategy will deliver us a 2nd All Star (via 2013-2019 lottery picks) or at least the odds aren't great anyway. Assume the current roster doesn't have one so we're relying on 2 mid-lottery picks.

No we wouldn't we would be pointing out his abysmal field goal percentage compared to the other four

And he makes it up by getting to the line more frequently than the other guys (except Howard). He is so far more efficient than Drummond and Kanter from that list. Still a small sample size, but if he can play the rest of the season the way he did these first 16 games, teams with holes at center position will want him this summer.

I agree about Bender over Chriss
Warren I think will develop into a nice 3rd or 4th option
I am still good with Jackson - look at Aaron Gordon and how much he has improved.
Right now - the team needs a PG
Chriss - I am not sold on. LEn is finally playing well but not sure he will be back next year. Monroe seems like he will be traded - just hope they can get a long term player back.

I wouldn't count on that. Teams rarely trade out of the top 5 even if the value seems fair.

I agree I don't see multiple picks getting the team into the top 5. But the Suns will bepretty close and maybe the ping pong balls will go right for them. Right now, the team is 6th with the Clippers. Clippers should get better. I can see the Suns easily being top 5 this year
Plus, if they keep Ulis and James at PG - they will get there

This is why per 36 is stupid!
Len sucks and would never avg 14/14 if he avg 14/14 with the ability to block he would be a stud! To bad he is horrible

Re: Season Speculation, Trade Ideas & Discussion Pt. 3
I'm not really a big fan of Schroder, it's hard to watch his highlights and actually think he is very impressive IMO. But he would certainly be an upgrade if we were to trade some of our picks (not ours) for the guy. I don't think I'd trade Monroe but I'd give them Dudley/Jones Jr and the Miami and Bucks pick. Schroder kind of reminds me of Bledsoe with the way he plays, though I think Schroder has a longer wingspan than Bledsoe.

He does block. Len is a very solid rebounder and can be a good shot blocker...has been in the past. What makes him look so bad to many and they let it influence their overall analysis imo is that his offense is so clumsy at times it's cringeworthy. That being said he has had some very nice finishes at times when he has been set up for baskets lately.
All in all it doesn't matter because I doubt we keep him. It will be interesting if anyone else gives him in offer though with so few teams needing centers and having cap space, and a number of better options on the market this summer.
