I do that trade, even with Kyrie here.

I'm going to wake up to a bunch of notifications :(.

I understand the frustration. Basketball is a game of inches, though. It's too simplistic to look at it and just say "bad offense, good defense." The game is more subtle than that. There's a reason why when he is on the floor, the team overall seems to do better. A game here and there, you can say it's a small sample size. But when it happens time and time again, you have to ask yourself why and maybe admit that your eyes are deceiving you.

It's easy to understand why our eyes can deceive us because offense is inherently a more visible endeavor than defense, especially to more casual fans (no disrespect, speaking generally here). A missed 25-footer catches the eye a lot more than denying the deep position on a guard who is about to post up but doesn't because Smart's tank frame is there in the way. The latter you probably don't even notice because nothing really comes to fruition, but it is invaluable. Take that idea, multiply it by the countless number of times he does little things like that per game, and you understand why Brad "wunderkind" Stevens somehow has faith in him. We all agree Brad knows what he's doing right? Why all of a sudden doubt that's the case here?

With all that said, Smart is obviously not a perfect player, no one is. If he reduced his FGA by about 25%, he'd be even better.

So let me ask you this. How much do you believe Smart is worth, and if you could trade him for one player in the league that you think another team would actually go for, who would your choice be?

He's worth more to us than he would fetch in a trade so the latter question is irrelevant, imo.

As for the former, 4/55 and I'm happy. He'll probably end up getting more.

More from us, or another team. I was more interested what you would pay him max.

Lol Kyrie is a master wizard magician assassin contract killer brain surgeon mad scientist. MVP.

This Brown/Tatum combination might be close to the best wing combo in the league after Klay/Durant. And that’s now, FORGET ABOUT IT as far as the future is concerned.

Can’t remember a more intriguing Celtics team. Watching the chemistry build, Smart’s polarising performances, the 2Jay’s development, Kyrie’s Gucci clutch, and a combo of grit, guts and balls off the bench..... it’s intoxicating.

Really glad I’ve got such a good forum to share this with, thanks, to you all ✌️

Rozier's home/away split numbers are pretty crazy:

Home: 12/5/3/1.5 shooting 37/40/89
Away: 6/4.5/1.5/1 shooting 30/22/66

Roughly the same minutes too.

I don't think I've ever seen someone score that much on that kind of efficiency on that many shots. I heard Shaq was the last to shoot and score this efficiently? There's nothing like this guy when he's on fire.

I can't find the tweet but McHale was the last Celtic to do something similar. Without the 3s of course.

Yeah, and Shaq would’ve been 6/16 from the line

Can I say both? :P

I hated the deal but approve of it now, and I miss Isaiah. I wish he could be our guy off the bench. Maybe he'll return later on his career.

It's ok to love Kyrie and miss Thomas at the same time.

My streak of not posting in game threads continues as does our winning streak. With a little luck we could get this to 20. Non of the upcoming teams are unbeatable. :D

Also the earth is flat and fear isn't real. Stay woke.

On a serious not our bench needs to wake up and manage to put some points on the board or we will be in trouble eventually.

Did you feel the same about IT? Because I'd understand that. You want to have players that are well rounded.

I think Brad prefers players that are extremes. I'm sure he'd love a Kawhi to work with, but he doesn't seem to need that kind of player. He game plans around individual strengths, and if he has amazing/unique strengths to work with (like Smart), he gets to be creative.

I'd be fine with him if he could cut out those bricks from 3 with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. It's too the point where the other team can use their five to guard four.

As I and countless others pointed out, he helped shoot us out of a big lead.
Plenty to deal with on both 'sides' instead of acting like this is one of those clear-cut things, like how Jaylen Brown isn't good at basketball.

It seems only with Marcus where his key plays somehow matter more than other players key plays. I don't get it. He is the most polarizing Celtic in years.

If the season ended today, he is probably the DPOY.

Anyone care to refute that?

OK THEN!

I'm a big-time Marcus fan and the **** he gets on this board is ridiculous, but I'm not sure it's as cut and dry as you claim. According to On/Off numbers he makes our defense 10.3 points better per 100 possessions. Jaylen makes us 11.3 points better per 100 possessions. The emergence of Jaylen as a defensive wonder and the loss of IT have a lot to do with our defensive prowess this year.

As far as Marcus Smart taking "too many shots", y'all need to remember that the defense often gets to determine who takes the shot, especially when your offense isn't executing well. That has a lot to do with all the attempts Marcus takes. Also, some of our other players are too passive and Smart is forced to take on more shot-creation than is ideal. Too many guys pitch him the ball with 5 seconds on the shot clock.

Look you can keep saying Simmons and Giannis aren't good but no one's really going to bother talking to you about it.

Didn’t say they weren’t good. You said star. See above? I said good.

Keep trying.

Does that mean Giannis isn't a "star"? Rudy Gobert? John Wall?

Who put you in charge of these definitions?

Wasn't Bertrob a Celtics fan in the past? I seem to recall him being here during the KG era. Or am I thinking about a different poster?
