I can't believe in a matter of weeks, I would go from sarcastically joining his fan club while criticising him to actually defending his play...

When I watch him play, I really don't think he deserves the ball hog criticism he's been pounded with. I see him finding himself open a lot because he uses screens very well and when he's open, he's gotta shoot. It's not like he's using multiple posessions for himself, he's still out there trying to find open guys but when you only have guys who can't shoot outside of Booker or TJ on the floor, you gotta take some shots. For a guy who isn't really a pass-first PG, averaging around 10FGA isn't that crazy. Under Triano, he's also averaging over 5APG and only 2TO a game. He's also getting to the line almost 4 times a game while shooting .82FT%. Per36 he's at 17/4/7.

The guy isn't world beater but he's a solid PG. He's not a young 20, 21 year old rookie trying understand the nuances of the game and trying to get to know his developing body; he's an experienced plyaer who's seen plenty over in Europe and plays with himself. He's not a perfect player but he's certainly one of the goods stories so far in our short season

James has played so well that McDonough says he'd like to work out another deal with James' camp. "He's got an amazing story," McDonough adds.

Indeed, James' remarkable rise offers many feel-good elements -- an undrafted player who received no draft combine invite, who no Division-I schools recruited, ultimately reaches the league. But don't mistake it for the proverbial dream-come-true tale, as the fulfillment of a lifelong ambition that he pursued since childhood.

But, according to one European-based NBA scout, James wasn't exactly NBA-ready before arriving overseas." He became a leader here," the scout says, adding that James declined a seven-figure offer to stay in Europe and instead bet on himself to sign a two-way deal with the Suns. "And it seems to have worked out."

Booker's thoughts on Mike James when Booker was a rookie ... I think I'd trust Booker's opinion on James than folks on this board.

In a way, this marks James' third Suns stint. He played for their Summer League team in 2015, pairing with then-rookie Devin Booker, who wondered to himself after their first practice together, "Who is this guy? Why isn't he on the team already?"

To be fair that was 2 seasons ago and before the multiple 0 and 1 FGM performances

I'm not a huge fan of James, but he would be a decent rotation player off the bench, we just need a starter. He has the ability to hit tough layups off the top of the glass that not many players know how to do very effectively.

There would be a lot less complaints if we had a legit starting calibre PG.

No, won't waive him. I hear they were on the fence about it, and it could have gone either way, but they finally decided to keep him long term...said he was a fan favorite...had a Fan Club on some forum and everything.

Why waive him when he can be a decent 2nd or 3rd string PG on a cheap contract?

The problem is he isn't a starter and shouldn't be going against opposing starters which makes him look terrible.

SO. First item on the agenda. I propose a resolution, that Mike James should start and play 30 minutes a game. Do I have a second?

Well he has started at times and played over 30 minutes a couple times and in the high 20s a few time as well, and now has gotten a minimum contract....so I have to say, congrats on one of your wishes for the Suns coming to fruition!

I'm not sure if you and your cohorts were loathed at first or ever loathed, though I am not sure how many club members you have, but congrats to all!

We have a new league leader!

Mike "1FGM" James has now tied at #1 in the league with Tyler Johnson with 6 games making 1 or less field goals (on 5+ attempts)
