Nashty & Cactus: Game 19 vs Bucks

Post#1 » by batsmasher » Thu Nov 23, 2017 4:49 am

Standings

How it works
Spoiler:
After each Suns game, an MVP thread will be opened for you to vote for your top 3 players. These threads can be created by anyone, as long as there isn't currently a thread for that game.

Anyone can vote for the 3-2-1 (including other fans from other forums) but you can only vote for the Suns players (or coach).

3 votes to who you think was a the best Suns player.
2 for the second best
and 1 for the 3rd best.

**EDIT: as of January something-or-other 2017, you can now distribute votes for the Nashty and Cactus however you please. You have a total of 6 votes to give out, but now you have the freedom to do what you want with those 6. The only condition which applies is no more than 3 votes can be given to one player (or coach) in either award. **

In the event of a Suns loss, you are also encouraged to vote for the Cactus of the game:

-3 votes for the player most responsible for the loss
-2 votes for the second most responsible
-1 for the third most responsible

Any votes with more than 3 players listed and not in the required format will not count. Voting will close before the start of the next Suns game.

After the thread closes, the votes will be tallied. The highest scoring total Sun gets 3 points, the next 2, and the third gets 1 point towards their season total. In the event of a tie in a count for a game, if the result of the game is a Suns win, a maximum of 4 players will be awarded points. A tie in the event of a loss will only result in a maximum of 3 players getting awarded points.

The player with the highest total at season's end wins the award!

The same applies for the Cactus of the Year, although of course the lowest tally at year's end takes it.

+3 Monroe
+2 Bender
+1 Chandler

-2 Daniels
-2 James
-1 Chriss
-1 Jackson

Booker and Warren shot terribly but did some other things well with TJ getting 11 boards and 3 steals and Book with 4 assists and 3 blocks. Both had a few turnovers as well though, so even though they both also scored in the 20s, I can't justify plus or minus votes for them.

Nashty
+2 Moose - he's probably the most complete offensive big we've had since Amare. He's so smooth and so comfortable near the rim.
+2 Ulis - Icing 3 clutch FT's at the end of the regulation and playing solid defense today against Bledsoe despite his size. He drew a couple of offensive fouls too
+1 Booker - played great D and hit a GIANT 3 ball at the end to take us into OT. He didn't get a higher Nashty score because he also went 0 for 6 in OT despite being our star player
+1 TJ - 20/10 on not great efficiency but he also scored the only bucket for us in OT.

Cactus
-3 James - another 1 FGM performance. 1 rebound, 1 assist and 2 TO's just isn't good enough
-2 Triano - for riding Booker, played 40min and went 0-6FG in OT yet we still went to him on virtually every shot in OT. TJ was 1 for 2 in OT and no one else saw a shot attempt.
-1 Bender - 5 TO's and some of them were just horrific...passing, court vision and BBIQ are suppose to be his strengths and he didn't exhibit high levels of any three.

+3 Monroe - Love when he moves the ball. Doesn't have to be him but a big who can facilitate from the post will help the youth develop.
+2 Booker - That shot was legit.
+1 Bender - TOs killed us but his defense and shooting continues to improve

They lost because of their youth, lack of strength/conditioning and inexperience. They will win games like this -against quality opppnents - later in the year.

+3 Monroe: Liability on defense, but cleaned up the offensive boards and gave us an option on offense when neither TJ nor Booker were rolling.
+1 Booker: Solely for getting us to OT, shot selection was really bad tonight and he was ice cold.
+1 Bender: Solid defense, helped shoot us back into the game, and had a couple nice drives/assists. Definitely can't turn it over like that in crunch time, but in his defense the offense was very stagnant and he was far from the only one turning the ball over tonight.
+1 Ulis: Big part in getting us to OT by drawing the foul and nailing 3 FTs down the stretch. With that said, this team needs a serious upgrade at starting PG before we can expect to consistently win games.

-1 JJ: Dude needs to figure out his FTs, nothing is more deflating in the arena than a forward stepping up and missing 2 FTs in a row. He did a good job defending Middleton, but he wasn't able to get much going on offense tonight and turned it over way too much for his PT.
-2 Daniels: When he's not hitting 3s he's a complete liability on the floor. Nothing to offer on offense, no defense to speak of, and stupid fouls. That's what about what you're expecting with him though, either he's hot or he's cold.
-3 James: Terrible shot selection and doesn't keep the ball moving on offense. I like that he pressures on defense, but he needs to bring more to the table than the ability to create his own shot at the point guard position, especially when he's not even making shots.
