Somewhere out there Sam Hinkie is smiling.

Whether you agree or not, he’s shown the league that you can rebuild in his way and it’ll payoff dividends with great talent. Sixers have been playing some really inspired basketball and they’re really fun to watch.

But really they only hit on 2 drafts. (3 if Fultz pans out). Kings essentially had the same opportunity and look how that turned out.

They did hit on MCW too, but kept flipping everyone forward until now. Got next year's Lakers pick for him. Fascinating process, now the fun begins. Embiid locked up. Covington almost done. And next year, starting at shooting guard....... Avery Bradley?????

AB's going to get paid some serious coin. Who pays him remains to be seen.......

Kings weren’t going for the worst possible situation thereby having the best chances of getting an extremely high pick. They wasted away doubling down on Cousins. They just suck and don’t really know how to scout talent.

Sixers at least flipped for a bunch of 2nd round picks and made really great trades that let them gain high picks later too. It’s a win win that also covers the future too if your immediate future doesn’t work out. He had a backup plan to the backup plan.

He simply used the system to his advantage - yet people complained he broke some unwritten rule!

Like KD going to the GSW.

It's a business and like any other business the people involved are gonna make the best decisions for their interests.

What people don't remember about Hinkie is the trades that netted them other first round picks from struggling teams.

As the poster above me said: Hinkie had a back up plan

When you realise they can add LAL/SAC Lotto pick to Joel & Simmons over the next 2 years....

It could be spectacular!

Wow Clippers lose again and badly. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they are thinking about trading their core and blowing it up.

Wow Bucks just got stomped by the Mavs. Didn't even crack 80 points... That takes some of the sting off our horrible Pacers collapse.

Maybe Paul was right when he talked about how the Clippers didn't have a winning culture.

Joel Embiid is such a troll lmao, I love it. Anyone see the 81% thing he said to throw shade at Jalen Rose...its practically like having a realgmer actually in the NBA.

Yeah, I think it’s great. He’s so soft-spoken but talks so much ****... and he always backs it up with his play.

Around the League

Embiid’s antics come off as really corny to me. Dude hasn’t won anything or even played a full half season.

I’m all for good trash talk and rivalries but I foresee him going down the D12 “me” route.

Yeah I'm starting to find him annoying now. He's just asking to become a hated player. Everyone loves him now cause he's a new toy but it will get old.

They are free falling. Knicks won't be as good once their schedule toughens up too. Pistons seem to be the only surprise that will sustain at this point :)

Philly is doing well too. I thought Milwaukee was going to start winning and get into the top 4 with Cleveland but they're not quite there yet I guess.

And I agree, NYK shouldn't have this record for much longer. Not sure about Indiana tho.

You know what? Of all the franchises in the NBA The Orlando magic have been run like a farm team for the rest of the league.

There has been so much talent come and gone that I believe any other franchise would have either a title or two, or at least a bunch of conference banners.

The talent bleed there is just absurd with bad deal after bad deal. At some point the fan base(which seems highly transitional)is just going to give up.

How many players have the traded, lost, or bungled away in the past ten years? In Detroit some of us bemoan the loss of Khris Middleton. Look at what the magic have lost just in the past few years;(off the top of my head)

Oladipo
Harris
Ibaka
Sabonis

That's crazy, and some trades were just so bad(the Harris trade and the Ibaka rental)it makes you wonder if anyone in their front office actually understands how the game works.

I fully expect another dumbass trade and talent fleece to take place if they keep losing games. Im sure the Pistons can upgrade again somewhere thanks to the extensive farm system in Orlando.

doesn't really mean anything. Gotta prove it. How,many times have they changed the front office before? This has been happening for a long time in Orlando. Same could be said of Milwaukee.

Business as usual until proven otherwise.
