Certainly a loss? Vegas has us as 5 point favorites.

Does anyone honestly think Simmons is going to miss his chance to go against lebron because of some swelling

We have Embiid on our team. That makes us better than Orlando.

We could lose any given game so I’m not saying that we are guaranteed a win, but I understand why we would still be favorites.

The thought of him dunking on Lebron makes something of mine swell and it's not my elbow

Dayum, that's messed up. But like you said, at least Embiid is scheduled to play.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure why the sky was falling. Our team is 7-3 in our last 10. They are 2-8. Even without Simmons, we should be competitive.

Am I the only one still scared this might not be a 1 game only thing? I think its PTSD from being a fan of this team.. but some confirmation that this is minor and just precaution would be nice

With this medical staff it’s natural to be worried. However, elbow injuries don’t seem to linger like more weight bearing body injuries.

Until we get more bad news, I’m not too worried.

Orlando got blown out by Boston and the starters only played like 22 minutes. A**holes. So their back to back will be meaningless because it’s like they didn’t even play tonight so they will be rested for tomorrow.

I realize that we are all traumatized by injuries with this team, but playing 82 games is very rare. Little things happen to just about everyone.

The main reason not to play when you have pain is just precautionary. Injuries happen more frequently when players are fatigued or when they have pain in other parts of their body.

An elbow probably isn’t the kind of pain that could lead to other injuries, but painful lower body, back or neck injuries are the kinds of things that make players play abnormally which can lead to other injuries.

If the elbow isn’t structurally messed up, and it is just swelling and pain, then it still makes total sense to rest it. If this was a playoff game I’m sure he would play.

Not because it could lead to other injuries, but because it could linger if it isn’t given rest.

If Ben was going to miss 5 or so games this year... this would be one of the ones I would have been 'happy' for him to miss. Orlando at home... still gives us a good chance of winning.

Quite honestly I think it's the other possibility that you need to be more worried about even though I think it is unlikely it will ever happen.

I don't ever see Simmons being the one that goes diva on us. Certainly if you talk to his high school and college coaches they say Ben was a great teammate who only cares about winning and sharing the ball and the knock on him was always he didn't just take over games. Even in the NBA I see games from Ben where he is quiet for a half and says afterwards he was "letting the game come to him" and no doubt after a chat at half time he comes out aggressive. I don't think that's taking plays off as much as it is his Aussie background where you don't want to be seen dominating the ball and not getting others involved. Need to beat that out of him.

Joel is much more likely to become the diva and much much more likely to say something stupid in the heat of the moment in mainstream or social media that can create rifts with teammates. We've already seen it to a certain extent with him complaining about not getting the ball in the post in at least 1 game this year. I'm hopeful though with time he will learn when its the right time to say that sort of stuff.

Should be a nice game for Fultz to come back ... alas

Do the Magic already know they are way better without Elfrid Payton than with him. They were really playing quality ball when he was injured, winning games too.

Since he's back, they're going south pretty fast

I don’t think that Embiid has shown any inclination towards attitude problems or diva like behavior at all. All teammates love him, and even a lot of his opponents love him. His personality and character is one of his core strengths.

Simmons and Embiid mesh perfectly from a basketball sense too. There is no reason to expect that they will ever have a conflict. They are both the types of superstars that other people want to play with.

The only reason Shaq and Kobe had any conflict was because Kobe is a world class douchebag.

a picture's worth a thousand words, and those shots of Simmons meeting Embiid, as he was walking off the practice court, spoke volumes. their skills are amazingly complimentary. plus it's not rocket science that championship franchises tend to have a couple of all stars on the roster. (i'd be more worried about Simmons and Fultz down the road, since both their games are built on handling the ball. and even then, i think a good scheme would sort it out.)
