            Greg Schiano - C - Buckeyes
USA Today's Dan Wolken reports that Tennessee is finalizing contract details with Ohio State DC Greg Schiano to serve as their next head coach.
While the Vols have reportedly had pie-in-the-sky ideas about Jon Gruden, Schiano has emerged as the team's No. 1 realistic target. Football Scoop passed along earlier on Sunday that they began to intensify their focus on Schiano over the past 24 hours. According to Wolken, Tennessee hopes to finalize this deal by Sunday's end. While he has head-coaching experience (with Rutgers from 2001-2011, with the Tampa Bay Bucs from 2012-2013) we would view this potential hiring largely as a fine, but somewhat uninspiring, get for the Vols. It would not outwardly appear to be the sort of home run hire that could actually propel the program into the thick of the SEC Championship conversation.

Greg Schiano - C - Buckeyes
Multiple outlets are reporting that Tennessee has backed off its pursuit of Ohio State DC Greg Schiano for their head-coaching vacancy due to public backlash.
On Sunday morning, USA Today's Dan Wolken reported that the Vols were finalizing a deal to bring Schiano in as their replacement for the terminated Butch Jones. There was immediate outcry due in part to Schiano's alleged connection with the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State. More than 100 people protested on campus on Sunday and several state politicians also tweeted in their distaste. With Schiano seemingly off the board at this point, it's unclear just where Tennessee might turn. Chip Kelly's already off to UCLA and Dan Mullen accepted the gig at Florida earlier on Sunday. Jon Gruden, at this point, is probably nothing more than a pie-in-the-sky idea, while UCF's Scott Frost is tracking toward taking the job at Nebraska. They're going to need to set their sights a tad bit more realistic. In the meantime, recruits continue to slowly leak out of Knoxville. It could be a long winter.
