Game 19: Pistons (12-6) @ Celtics (18-3) - 7:30 PM EST

Post#1 » by whitehops » Sun Nov 26, 2017 2:38 pm

HUGE game tomorrow. the celtics are off to an amazing start and while they were more dominant in their first 10 games they've been good their last ten. they're stifling defensively and easily have the best defense in the league so far.

can we pull off this statement game?

props to ducler as usual!

Hopefully Mook tries to hero ball it.

Celts are sick though. Imagine if they had Gordon Hayward healthy as well. Bloody hell.

C's have the best defense in the league, and have a ton of offensive weapons. They're also a match-up nightmare for us. Horford always kills Dre with his range. Stanley can't guard Tatum & Brown, and we can't hide Reggie on either of them if Bradley is going to hound Kyrie - which should be the defensive assignment for him.

Also, AB will probably be looking to have a revenge game on the Celtics. But, he's been pretty abysmal on offense the last week, week and half. If that continues, that will hurt.

I do not expect a win here. The Celtics are just a bad match-up, they're better coached, and they have better players. Our only real advantage I could cite may be our bench if Ish and Kennard get it going.

I'm just hoping it's not as bad as the Cleveland game. Upset would be amazing.

Time to shock the world. A win here would legitimize our good start to the season. We're well rested unlike the Cavs game where we were playing our 3rd game in 4nights. I expect our boys to really get up for this one and for it to be a very competitive game. Bradley gonna have a big game me thinks :)

I actually think we matchup well with the Celtics.

It all depends on Dre, if he's beasting on the boards and closing out on Horford, the Pistons can win.

Hero ball Kyrie vs Hero ball Reggie. Kyrie is better overall but Reggie can win a battle.

Avery defense vs Kyrie offense. I'd bet on Avery making Kyrie waste a lot of possessions that turn into Dre & Stanley rebounds.

Jaylen performs overall better than Stanley but I don't think he's going to beat him head to head.

Tatum is a smooth scorer but nothing too hard for Stanley or Tolliver... And somebody's gotta check Tobias too.

To be honest the only huge advantage I see for the Celtics is coaching. So it's on SVG whether he finds and sticks with A gameplan that works, or makes the necessary adjustments on defense. If we see Leuer shooting midrange shots all game, and we don't see Galloway getting the minutes he deserves, then chalk it up as a close loss.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

This will be a statement game.

Pistons won in Oakland so why not in Boston?

Harris and Kennard win this for us!

Imho, Bradley's about the best in the league defensively against Curry, but has not done very well on that end vs. Irving. Bradley will be extra revved though. No doubt he'll get a huge reception and a tribute.

It will be interesting to see whether Baynes starts on Drummond to open the game, or if Horford will start at center.

Fun game with two teams that have won a lot, with three players going up against their former club.

Last year this was a competitive and entertaining series. Hopefully we see that again this year against them cause it was fun.

Going to be a tough one, hopefully a competitive and fun one.
Schedule/fatigue should be on our side at least.

We better be ready for them to have a very solid game plan against our actions with Drummond operating from the top of the key, last few games we have gone through stretches where we have needed to make adjustments in game, but this is the top defensive team in the league with an outstanding coach

i anticipate that they switch most things on the perimeter and there's no real mismatch for us to exploit when they do that - part of the reason they're so good defensively this year.

gonna need a big game from our bench. them getting stops, pushing the tempo and raining threes will likely be the reason we win.

The Celtics are the definition of solid. They come at you strong. Even if I loathe their fan base(arrogant, cocky, know-it-all's)I have to respect their front office and coach.

Great moves have been made and its up to the Pistons to do the same. Detroit's got a solid foundation and are getting better every game thru internal growth.

Detroit has to use Andre as a battering ram here. As much as players like Horford scorch detroit pulling Andre out of the paint, detroit can terrorize them down low and grabbing offensive rebounds.

I don't know what to expect honestly as both teams have had big moves made and its two familiar, but different foes facing off.

Should be interesting but all I know is that if I'm Stan, I'm hoping they don't try the "down 15 lets come back and win" shtick again. 7 times winning when down 10+points is already testing the limits of what's possible. Besides that, my heart can't take another.

Hoping for a strong start and finish. Team now has 18 games under its belt so marked improvements in efficiency should start to crop up. Would love a win, but a strong competitive game from both sides will do just fine.

Pretty sure he was kidding. Regardless, I bet it’s a close game. We do fairly well against “good” teams. If Andre is engaged I don’t see you guys having much of an answer for him. It’ll be a fun one!

coming down from 10+ points is going to be virtually impossible against a defense like boston's. the starters absolutely have to start well on offense or we'll be playing behind the whole game which feeds right into boston's strength. they are one of the best teams in the league at limiting 3 point attempts from opponents and one of the best in the league at 3 point % against. that combination has made them allow the least three pointers in the league so it will be very tough to rely on comebacks that way. we don't attempt a lot of threes (slightly below average) but we're third in the league at makes so something's gotta give.
