I think you might be sleeping on Simons athleticism. Interestingly enough Monk reminds me of Lou Williams who was also a freak athlete coming out of hs.

New breakdown on Simons. Hope he enters the 18 draft. Top sg in this draft?

His feet look too spread, and jumpshot all look a bit off balance. Otherwise, a nice set of high school hype videos.

Last major prospect who did this was Thon and that paid off massively (though likely due to NCAA eligibility issues, different from Simons' case).

I'd be surprised if he gets drafted ahead of guys like Walker and Diallo. I might take him ahead of Bruce Brown though if Brown turns out to be 6'3".

I like Simons a lot, but hard to take him above guys like those mentioned above given the relative uncertainty of taking a guy fresh from HS. Should be good value for someone outside the lottery though, imo, but will take time to develop.

One of the best guards in this draft. Looks like a mini Fultz.

People like his form/mechanics? It's a weird push shot with a slow gather and low, albeit quick release and sloppy inconsistent foot work. Against NBA length, athleticism and schemes it feels like a problematic shooting form, hell maybe against NCAA's best.

Not the biggest fan. I've seen everywhere between a 6'3 to 6'5 listing for his height, but from watching him he looks closer to 6'3. He's a good shooter when he gets it off but I have some questions on how easily he's going to get it off on the NBA level. It's a lower release and I'm not sure how great he's going to be at creating separation. He's a solid athlete, but that's about it and he has 0 PG skills. So I'm not seeing the most versatile player on either side of the court.

I don't think he goes lottery and if I had a chance in the 20s to draft him or Diallo, I'm going to take the risk and take Diallo. Diallo has elite size and athleticism for the guard spot, I'm taking the chance on hoping he gets a jumper.

If all that Diallo needed was a jumper he would go lotto, he is trash as a ball player

Can you be specific? Because he’s not trash.

Im not saying Diallo is only a jumper away from being a star player. I do believe he is a jumper away from being a rotation player though. The dude is really raw but for a late 1st round pick I think hes definitely worth the gamble with his size and athleticism.

On a bad team, maybe.

He still has a long way to go as far applying his energy and athleticism towards making smart, winning plays on both ends. So it comes down to if you think if he has the IQ, self awareness, mentality and work ethic to make those strides in his game.

He is many more things other than a jumper away to be a rotation player man

It's mostly based on the eye-test, but it looks like Simons' athleticism and scoring ability could be comparable to D'Angelo Russell. He's not the same level passer and not someone you'd ideally have running the team at the point. It would help if he could get to 6'5" or 6'6" and play full-time at the 2. In other words, I'm not sure he's really a combo guard. He also needs to gain some strength if he's going to guard wings.

If he shows he can really shoot it in NBA workouts, that will go a long way. You'd be drafting the kid to be a scorer primarily.

I agree. Here is what I mean when I say hes a jumper away. I think if he progresses like most early 20 year olds progress and adds a consistent jumper to his game, he should be a rotation player within a few years. He still is a really raw prospect, but I like the potential with him.
