I've been very supportive of him in previous seasons, preaching patience and advocating a DeAndre Jordan sort of approach to bringing him along (in terms of patience and his game). But for whatever reason, it's just not working out. He's now the 3rd best center on our team with the arrival of Monroe. Honestly the 4th best if Dragan ever slides over to 5 in some lineups.
I've tried to stay on the train, but since he's not signed to a deal and is expiring after this year, I don't see the point in staying a believer in him because he hasn't shown really anything. If he does achieve success, in all likelihood it won't be with us.
Really he might be be the fifth best center behind
Monroe
Chandler
Williams
Bender

Re: Alex Len
Phoenix Suns center Alex Len has admitted to being frustrated at his recent lack of playing time. Len, 24, has not played in two of Phoenix's past three games as Suns interim coach Jay Triano has stuck to a veteran two-center rotation of Tyson Chandler and Greg Monroe. "I want to be out there, and I want to compete," Len told AZCentral.com. "I put in the work hoping to show my skills on the court. So when you're not able to help your team, it's frustrating."
The 7-foot-1 Len is averaging 9.0 points and a career-best 9.3 rebounds in just 22.9 minutes per game this season, his fifth with the Suns since being selected with the No. 5 overall draft pick in 2013.
Len is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent next summer after signing a one-year, $4.19 million qualifying offer to remain with the Suns for this season. He told AZCentral.com that he wants to win with the Suns but acknowledged that "when you play, you showcase yourself for the other 29 teams." "I showed this team -- and teams around the league -- what I can do when I get in there," he said. "I rebounded well, I finished around the rim. If Coach [Triano] needs me, I'm here."

Delusional.
Yeah, that's questionable. He's our best rebounding and shot blocking center, but finishing around the rim is not his specialty.

This team can't last a month without having a disgruntled player.

Re: Alex Len
I think he'll get more time when (if) we move Monroe.
Hopefully when the deadline passes, neither will be part of this team anymore.

Alex Len minutes in 2018/2019 will be zero for the Suns. Therefore his 2017/2018 minutes should be as close to zero as possible.

I don't disagree. In hindsight they probably should have just rescinded the qo after they signed sauce to his deal.

Hopefully we find a defensive C in the draft or FA. He's still our best defensive, rebounding and shot blocking big. Sure he has problems putting the ball in the hoop at times, but he's not quite a bad as some make him out to be.

I'd put him ahead of Chandler depending on the matchup and defensively much better than Monroe who is slow footed and is a liability depending on the matchup, I don't think Williams is better despite having better hands as teams should know by now that Williams finishes below the rim most of the time.

Re: Alex Len
I'd like to say that when I posted what I posted last page (23), I was SUPER down on Len after he got rejected by Zhou Qi. It was just a horrible look and really hurt my confidence in him.
But I'm back to being fairly neutral on him. I think we should bring him back for the right price, but don't break the bank. There are lots of centers who can give you results similar to Len so we shouldn't give him something that will hinder our ability to improve the team. But if we are going to sign a player with an impact similar to Len, then I hope that guy is Len himself. Because he is still our guy and we drafted him.
I honestly don't think the center position is really a make or break position with regards to winning a championship. Our ability to even make the playoffs really hinges on the PG and PF spots. For example, if we missed the playoffs and Len was starting the whole year and averaged 10/10 in 28 mpg (which I think is a fair estimate) then you wouldn't really be saying "if only we had a better center". If he can give us 10/10 in 28 mpg then that's fine, let's look at improving other areas of the roster.
I think a lot of people here want- or think that you have- to have at every position a star player. But that's not true. You look at the teams which make the playoffs and a lot of them have role-playing level centers who go for 24-28 mpg. I just want to see him given that starting role and literally just as I type this I look to compare his stats this year to Tyson's and...it surprises me to say that I think he's earned it.

Re: Alex Len
Dude, Alex is trying to get paid. Question is, is he trying to stay here or showcase to go somewhere else because we did not give him the answer he wanted this past off-season. I have to say he is impressing me lately, seemingly he can now catch most of the time and he is finishing through contact much better. Two things he seemingly just could not do before. Good job ALEX!!

Re: Alex Len
I think his improved play has a lot to do with them simplifying what they are asking him to do. By focusing just on rebounding and playing D it's helped his play. I don't think it was a mistake for them push the limits of what he could do offensively the last couple years because it's important to see what a young guy can and can't do but now they seem to know to just play to his strengths and not have him try to do post moves or shoot jumpers.
It also helps he's fouling slightly less this year. That's a good lesson when judging young bigs because almost all of them have trouble with fouls early in their career and it's something that most guys improve on as they learn what they can and can't get away with at this level.

Re: Alex Len
Alexia is gone. No one ever signed their QO and came back with the team.
We're showcasing him for other teams lol
I guess this is good for PR purposes.
