Unpopular Opinion: Devin Booker going to be another Monta Ellis type guy at best

Off to a good start if your goal is to work at ESPN with hot takes like this one. One bad game against an elite defender and he is Monta at best.

This whole thread has been like that actually as if he didn't carry our asses last night coming off an injured toe. Now he won't even get a max off a rookie contract? He wont make it two minutes past free agency before he signs that max.

Drummond would have been perfect.

Was he ever an option? Pistons would’ve been dumb to let him go.

There was lots of talk for the past few seasons how he's been on the block and how we've "Shown interest" in him.

The Pistons board were looking to dump him all the way up until the start of the season. Saw plenty of Jackson/Drummond for Bledsoe/Chandler ideas thrown around on their board, but unfortunately he has become untouchable.

There was that trade rumor that I think was actually legit. Suns best 3 players for Pistons best 3 players.

It wasn't TERRIBLE but from what I saw, most of his scoring came when it was a 30 plus point deficit at the end.

It was a good game for JJ. In the NBA this early it doesn't matter if it's garbage time, especially after the way he's been playing. He was active, scored, got boards, more steals than assists. It's just going to build confidence and make him hungrier.

By Josh Jackson standards this was a big step assuming the shooting comes together at some stage too.

If he made an extra 3 and FT he'd have had 24 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and efficient from all areas.

I'm just baffled by how little touch Jackson has around the rim. It literally looks like he's just throwing the ball up there. No feel for strength, usually way to strong bouncing off the glass without even touching the rim. Can't even say bad luck and they're gonna start going in eventually.

Also surprised at how little fire and effort Monroe plays with. He knows his stuff and does it on autopilot hence the decent box scores, but he's so lazy and passive out there. I know the situation blows for him and at this point you can't be happy to get traded here as a filler but dude's in a contract year and seems like he doesn't give two **** if he is still in the league next year or not.

Thats kinda always been the knock on him, he can score at a good clip, and thats just with him being there, kinda passive and not playing his ass off, so that what he does. His effort on defense is borderline appalling. Cant count how many times i see a guard or forward blow past their man to the rim and Monroe either just stands there, hoping he misses so he can grab the rebound, or he moves out of the way and lets the guy right past him for the lay-up. Its almost like he is afraid to defend. But this is the exact reason that Detroit let him go, and Milwaukee was bringing him off the bench behind players like Henson and Maker.

Look at Suns best player today... he was so inefficient as a rookie and last season too.

Heck Durant, Westbrook etc were both inefficient as rookies and they were supposedly better offensive players than Josh Jackson.


You are expecting a rookie to play like someone who's been in the league for 2+ years atleast....


Forget Tatum, he plays on a team where he gets good looks and has a proper role as an offensive player.
