So I joined the Jazz in My Career so I could help out Ricky & Gobert..(Wolves are too stacked & i'm a SG)

Gobert gets injured for what seems like the whole season & Ricky gets traded for Seth Curry & JJ Barea.

Now I have to sit through all these trash cut scenes & i'm on a team with me as their go-to guy at a 75 overall rating

What do you think of the game overall and specifically mycareer and mygm? I've seen it get some pretty bad reviews and was thinking about getting it in a month or two

Wait until it's on sale during black friday (Should be around $30-40)

Storyline in My Career is the worst it's ever been & I bring that up because 2K gave you NO option to skip the cut scenes, so you have to watch every single one. If you end up getting 2K, you'll see how long it actually takes for you to get into a game, because there is literally a cut scene for every single game.

Also, you earn way less VC per game, so each game you play in My Career, you barely get any decent VC to upgrade your guy, which basically pressures you to buy VC with your own money if you dont have time to grind 4-5 games to upgrade one skill point. <-- This point right here is probably why 2K18 is getting a lot of negative reviews by the users, because of all the microtransactions in a $60 game.

Also, they added a "neighborhood" where your guy goes & other online players are there as well. You can go around to places like Footlocker, your condo, barber shop, recording studio, Pro-Am, etc..it's pretty cool if you want to have more freedom than just playing games, but i'm lazy & usually just want to play the actual games & not have my guy run to Footlocker to buy new shoes.

My GM is pretty much the same as last years(my favorite mode), but they just added some new stuff to make it more immersive, like the conversations you have with your coaches, owner, scouts, players are more intense & get personal..I'd say that it's a little more improved than last years version.

Sorry for the super long post, but yeah..My Career is definitely a grind this time & it's SO much harder to earn VC, but if you have time to sit through all the cut scenes & play a bunch of games to barely upgrade your guy..then i'd say get it on sale

This was great thanks. I haven't had a 2k since I think 2k15 so it's been a long time. That sucks that they seem to be trying to get you to buy VC. I really only play Mycareer and mygm and was hoping that they didn't have some pre done story for the mycareer mode. I'll wait it out and think about it it, cheers.

Klomp, The heck kind of stat line you put up to get MVP in your rookie year!?

I just scouted a player who is rated 91 overall. I have never seen a rookie that highly rated in 2K. He's a 6'7 SG his ceiling is Hall of Fame his floor is Jimmy Butler/All NBA. FLOOR IS BUTLER. Haha what a monster.

20.6 ppg (.582 FG%, .478 3FG%, .830 FT%), 4.6 rpg, 11.1 apg, 4.4 spg, 1.2 bpg in 24.2 mpg

I probably should increase my difficulty level....

I simmed a Warriors season. Interesting off-season moves happened.

Grizzlies one the number 1 pick which is a 92 rated SG. They took him then traded for the 4th pick shipping Conley out. They drafted a really good 80 rated Euro player who wont come over for another year, he's a PF. They traded into the draft again at the end of the fist and got a nice bench PG. In free agency they signed Wilson Chandler and Isiah Thomas as well as they gave Bosh a chance and brought him in. Now their starting line up is

Edit: Actually I messed up they didn't get Chandler they have Kyle Anderson.

Thomas
Early (Stud SG)
Anderson
Bosh
Gasol

Just like that they rebuilt and have a contending level team. Next year when the European roolie comes over they have an amazing young duo.

As the Warriors I traded Iggy for a future 1st and in free agency got Durant back and signed Carmelo.

PAul George went back and signed a huge deal with the Pacers.

Cousins agreed to go to the Lakers during them moritoriom but bailed on them on singing day and went back to the Pelicans lol. I don't think the Lakers got anybody after that.

I play with the hornets on my career (SF), it sucks you can avoid those cutscenes i can't stand that b-fresh woman, it's so annoying!
But at least, the games load so much faster than the 2k17...

I agree B-Fresh is annoying. I think they made a lot of mistakes on my career this year. 2K has finally hit that fat cat status where they are dominating and think they can get away with anything. I really hope EA hits back hard next year to keep them in check.

I'm really not that keen on the story driven elements of GM mode to be honest. It's nice that there's a little of those elements, like talking with coaches/players, having your owner want you to take the franchise in a certain direction etc but they've pushed it a little too far.

I was playing a season as the Bulls and made some trades to go even younger for obvious reasons and bought in Patton. I was giving him 15 mins a night and he was out there averaging 4 blocks! Was obviously feeling pretty excited about the blocks I had for the future with Dunn and Lavine also performing well. So, within the storyline my team was bought out by an entertainment magnate who wanted to move the team to Seattle (Chicago....being moved to Seattle...) which didn't eventuate while I was playing tbf, and also strong-armed me into hiring his idiot son.

Now, the owner and his son kept hassling me to trade for one of those top 3 picks that Calinks has also mentioned and Mareese Speights as his advanced stats were very good. However, the Magic had made him an untradeable player (for story reasons it would seem). Come deadline night, the Boss' son undercuts me and trades Patton for Speights for story reasons, I quit the GM mode immediately. I load up another GM mode as the Wolves and get EXACTLY the same story with the same undercutting bullsh** as I had on the Bulls career, even down to the draft, team move and deadline day trade force, infuriating and boring.

Like I said at the start, I like some story elements as far as owner pressure and rebuilding phases etc but they've pushed it way too far and taken the fun out of the mode IMO. It's a real shame because My-League is fun but it's a bit too much in the opposite direction; there's no owner interaction and proper interaction with the players so you don't quite get that GM mode feel. IMO they've really made a mistake on this one.

Its part of the story. After the first season it goes to normal GM mode. You just got to deal with it in the first run. The Patton thing really sucks though.

No I want to but my PC is iffy and I am terrible on keyboard and mouse anyway. I will get it for sure when it comes to Xbox.

Wanted to see how stats would change if I played full 12 minute quarters....first game I put up 40 pts 20 asts. Yeah, probably should drop that down a bit.

Lots of deals going on for Black Friday and Cyper Monday. You can get a Xbox One or PS4 for like 180 bucks which is just a joke. Tons of new games are 15-30 bucks too. Highly recommend people get stuff now.

All of these games pale in comparison to Football Manager.

Finally got Injustice 2 on PC. But my god am I bad, I dont know how to block anything. Started story mode on hard difficulty thinking CPU cant be that hard. Oh no, you have to be pro or smth to beat that CPU. My online record is like 1/10 as well, won very first match I played, but then got reminded of reality very soon.
