He's missing time. How much is the question?

LeBron James takes challenge of defending Hawks' Dennis Schroder, slows speedy guard as Cavaliers win 10th straight

LeBron James’ unusual midgame defensive switch was the hot topic after he helped Cleveland extend its winning streak.

James took command of a challenging defensive assignment and stuck around to see the end of the Cavaliers’ 10th straight victory.

Dennis Schroder, who led Atlanta with 27 points, blew past Cavaliers guard Jose Calderon to score on three straight layups.

James (6-foot-8, 250 pounds) then took over primary defensive duties on Schroder (6-1, 172) to close the half and continued covering the super-quick guard in the second half.

“He was kicking our butts in the first half,” James said of Schroder. “My teammates asked me to take the challenge. I wanted the challenge.”

James seemed to relish the chance to test his skills against the point guard.

“It’s amazing when the best player in the world tries to stop you and tries to guard you,” Schroder said.

“I still tried to be aggressive. It doesn’t mean that I have to stop playing. He’s a big body and it’s tough to just go past him.”

Schroder was held to 10 points in the second half while being shadowed by James.

LeBron James conjured a double-double and a defensive masterclass as the Cleveland Cavaliers notched a 10th straight win on Thursday.

But it was James' defensive display in subduing the threat of Atlanta's Dennis Schroder which dominated the post-game discussion.

Schroder finished with 27 points, which included a burst of scoring that took the Hawks into a 67-58 lead in the first half.

James however stepped up to halt Schroder's flow of points, enabling the Cavaliers to regain the lead at 99-90 heading into the final quarter. "I take a lot of pride in my defensive abilities no matter if I'm guarding a point guard, a power forward, a center or a small forward. I take the challenge," James said.

"My teammates wanted me to take the challenge and I wanted to take the challenge."

Lue said, "That was big time for us, for him to guard Schroder. He got some big stops."

hope its not too serious. luckily we are are 4-17 and there is no reason to rush him back earlier than he is ready and cause more long term problems. might be some ugly games coming up without Collins and Dedmon.

We will be mighty thin up front now.
Ersan and Babbit with the start
Cavanaugh, Moose (whenever he get back from his ankle injury) and Plumlee to back up.
Or we will play really small and Prince will play the 4, Baze the 3 and have Brussino and Dorsey back from D-League?

Last I saw Evans (?) was tearing it up in Erie. Can we bring him in or not?

We'd have to sign him to an NBA contract. He's not on a 2way contract.

Just checked and he is averaging almost a double-double in seven games.

Just a sprain for Collins. Out 2-3 weeks according to Shams.

Good news all things considered, we're not looking to win anyway and we can work him back as slowly as need be. Thankfully it's not something that would have cost him months of play.

Agree on both points although I'm not sure they are 'getting' whiny. They've always been. I"ll say that game was pretty well officiated though. I was surprised.

Wait...yes I'm biased or yes we could be the best 4-17 team since 1953.
