How did it go so wrong for 2 of the Philly draft picks - 2 bigs riding the pine and not wanted by their teams.

What's with the stars getting ejected from games recently? Lebron, AD and KD?

I guess it's the politically correct way to send a message to the refs that you're a star and they need to treat you as such....

In another, better NBA world--we'd get an NBA Finals between Houston and Golden State.

That would drastically more fun than Cavs-Warriors for the 4th straight year.

We will get that. Then the winner will play an exhibition series against the East champ.

I called it long ago (at the other place) when Al went to Boston - we will here how great Al Horford is now although he is doing exactly what he did here in Atlanta. Why wasn't he an MVP candidate during our 60 win season. cause you know....Atlanta and most hose guys just weren't paying attention.

Quite frankly, you’re seeing the same thing with Kyrie. He is almost entirely statistically and stylistically indistinguishable from his time in Cleveland yet the narrative is he’s “blossoming” outside of “LeBron’s shadow”. Why? Well the ole Boston media machine of course.

I'd say the difference though is that a LOT of people said Kyrie wouldn't be any good without Lebron and couldn't be the #1 guy on a contender. In that respect he's already proven a lot of people wrong. Al just continues to do what he always has done. And when he did it in Atlanta they literally said "he's a good but not a great player" Now he's an closet mvp candidate? give me a break. I hate Boston.

Kyrie was an established scorer and All Star well before LeBron returned so I'm not sure where the idea he'd just fall off a cliff came from. There were however always questions about the impact of his ability as a solo act but he too is just continuing to do what he's always done

Which moves us to:

Boston isn't much unlike Atlanta during their great run, Atlanta was a coalescence of a group of talents and roles rather than the rise of individual talents so "best scorer on a good team" doesn't equate to "#1 guy on a contender". It's part of why Al is getting propped up in the media, Kyrie's production on it's own and particularly without Al on the floor doesn't scream MVP caliber. The team win percentage being greater despite Kyrie being decidedly not as good as the PG he replaced doesn't scream MVP caliber.

If there weren't known names attached you'd see a similar situation of "well why not name the whole team player of the month?" but instead it's "well, one of them has to be MVP, right?"

I'm not sure i followed your point there but I disagree with some of that. In what world is IT better than Kyrie? Not in this flat world.
Kyrie's scoring and overall shooting percentage are well over what he did in Cleveland. Everything he is doing screams career year for a guy who was already an all star. And LOTS of people thought Lebron was the reason he looked like a superstar in Cleveland.

All this talk about how the Celtics aren't good when Horford is off the court is stupid. The Celtics aren't good when friggin Aron Baynes is on the court. Pretty simple really. They said the same thing in Atlanta. When you're backup is Gustavo Ayon or Baynes then yes your on/off court comparison looks really great.

Dude puts up production on a bad team and gets criticized for it:

Dude puts up production on a contender and gets no credit:
MaceCase wrote:We've seen Thomas carry scrubs to the playoffs whereas we've seen Kyrie blow leads without his wet nurse on the court for even 2 minutes.

Well, there was this other guy they were worried about too that couldn't even sit a minute unless a 10 point lead turned into a 10 point deficit...

Now dude plays defense, scores clutch buckets and carries a team ravaged by injuries to be the top team in the league...and still gets no credit?
