We don't have overwhelming talent, but we do have a lot of useful guys with skills, but we are vanilla as hell and predictable. We just have no one with the vision to shake things up, try something new, or connect the dots to let one guy's strengths cover another guy's weaknesses, the sort of things good coaches do.

Our roster is full of guys who buy into the team, we have some young guys with potential and if the wheels fall off we've got a lotto pick to add to that. I think we're a prime opportunity for a first-rate coach to walk in and have instant success.

Who do you think is the possible first-rate coach that would want to handle this team?

None, to be honest.

If you consider Fizdale "first-rate" (I honestly don't know if he is, it seemed Gasol/Conley keep Memphis winning regardless of coach through the years) we might have a shot at him.

Personally I expect we'd go with a retread who has "playoff pedigree" or some other such short-term-focused nonsense in hopes we can jump into the mix again next season. Maybe Dwayne Casey!

Listing Dwight as a bonafide starter then saying Marvin is past his prime is laughable. Other than Kemba, Marvin is practically the only thing holding this roster together right now. He's been very good this season. Dwight is WELL past his prime.

I've got to agree with HoopsMalone on Dwight. I was defending Dwight pretty hard earlier in the season, but I was foolishly ignoring the other aspects of the game that don't involve scoring in the post. The only positive I see from Dwight is that he gives us a power center that is useful in specific situations, although I think we could find someone else that isn't so needful for much less. But, just like the old saying goes, "don't expect something from nothing", I think the fact that we got Dwight for Miles Plumlee tells you all you need to know about his value.

Yes Howard has lots of warts (predominately turnovers), but, his production is starter level. I am not saying Dwight is a great or even good starter. I think he can be better if anyone could instill some discipline in him regarding his role. I do NOT think Marvin is starter level material. He had a good game last night. Most nights? Very below average production.

"his production"

What about the rest of the team?

Just because Dwight is filling up the scoreboard doesn't make him an asset. His inability to set effective screens, guard stretch 5s, and pass out of bad situations make his stats meaningless.

The fact that he runs his mouth too much and commits unnecessary technical fouls lower his worth even more.
