rzzzzz wrote:that technical foul for, what, bouncing the ball too hard because he was exciting about securing the game?...that was interesting. guess the league needs to keep a lid on celebrating. or maybe it really is an obvious violation. but, for sure, no one can accuse Dario of getting star tx from the refs.

I think it might have been called it a delay of game and if the team had one warning earlier, then the next one is a tech. Thought I heard one of the refs say that near one of the game mics.

Funny how everyone said since last year he would be a bad fit, pardon IS a bad fit and cant hang in the role he will be given. Granted He sucked in the same role he has today last year. Ofc he had to figure out a way to consistently contribute in this role since his 3 game is not there where it should be yet. But he mashed well since day one as a starter.

Really happy with how him getting into the starting lineup has done good things for our rebounding. He put's a body on guys which allow other guys to get boards and he get's after it himself. He was our best rebounder last year and he's bringing in some of that to the table this year.

Dario turning it up more and more. Clutch plays tonight, good shooting and hustling as usual. Love having him on the team.

One thing you have to credit Dario for is regardless of whether he scored 5 or 20 points the effort is always there. He's got a good contract.

He was getting open looks they just weren't falling. I've been disappointed with his development but it's hard to argue fit.

Weird how he seems to go through funks where his shot is completely flat last couple games his shot looks completely different.

Well in what way do you mean development exactly? He is playing a role in the team foreign to him as a player. One he was desperately bad at last year and wasnt that good at at the beginning of the season. Remember the time till Biid got hurt? That was a similar role to what he plays now. It is basically game without him haveing the ball. This was the very reason many people said he is a bad fit, since he is best with the ball in his hands and gives the most. If you judge him by his 3pt game than sure you will be somewhat disappointed. But if you judge him by the role he plays and how he plays it vs before, than i would say its a quite a difference. I think this season was about finding his style of play and adjusting within the hierarchy and the system.
As for his shot yeah he still battles with it. Old habits die hard you know. But he will get there. I agree he could be further along, but he makes more improvements through the season it seams than the offseason. Kind of like last year.

I mean sure he can create with the ball in his hands but he was getting to spaces and getting wide open looks off the ball. He was just bricking them so I sort of don't know where the idea that he couldn't play off the ball came from.

When I talk about development yes I'm mainly talking about shooting because he's really pretty much maxed out in other areas and he's still not playing much with the ball in his hands. The main difference is his shot has now started to fall if anything the looks he was bricking earlier in the season were better. I don't have week to week data on wide open looks but he was missing a ton of them.

As far as three point shooting goes yes I expected it to improve and it's still really early but it's more his shot it was ugly and looked like it was shot straight out of a cannon. My expectations are for him to be able to knock down the midrange shot and be about a .400 3PT shooter because of how many open looks he gets.

And yes I'm well aware of his struggles early last season. The point is if he wants to be a very good player in the NBA versus just a role guy he's going to need to be more consistent with his shot. It's the same sort of criticism I had of Covington. If you want to seen as a knockdown 3PT shooter your shot can't disappear for months. It can disappear for a game. For a week. But not 2-3 months at a time.

Tonight we saw the best version of darion minus his flashy passes connecting. Tonight showed where dario is at his best...grinding for buckets with the left or right baby hook.

Dario is still finding his fit within the offense. Hopefully he realizes his game starts inside then out and not vice versa. Optimal or not thats when dario is at his best.

Dario has a bit of everything to his game, but most of all, he has some real junkyard dog toughness and intensity. Euro ball is physical and rough, and he brings a lot of that to his game along with a jack of all trades skill set, plus a real nose for the ball.

Agreed.

Dario is tough, and plays hard. He fights for rebounds, and tries really hard on defense even though he isn’t very good at it. He also can handle it and pass.

He can hit 3’s too. He needs to continue to strengthen his 3 point shot, but I think he will continue to play 25-30 minutes a game for us even when we are contending.

Really like the JJ/Dario action they've been running. Has been very effective

Dario has been playing well recently. He punishes the small line-ups with crashing the boards while he is a real good secondary playmaker at the PF position. He's also a threat from the perimeter that frees things up for Ben.

Saric still gets abused on defense and is a liability.

again. (just like the offensive rebound, put back, plus one against DC. *yeah, the foul for delay of game or celebrating or whatever nonsense, but he put the game away before the Wiz succeeded in stealing it.)

So Saric got whacked in the eye and has 3 stitches and got poked in the other eye in practice.
