Why the Free Agents

Post#1 » by Dloading99 » Sun Dec 3, 2017 3:51 am

Really just irks Me that Magic had such a dumb plan  to go after these free agents why screw your young squad up to go after Lebron who is going to play with you and talk to every team.

Why not be the Warriors build through the draft. this continues misguided theory of going after free agents and supposed superstars makes no sense. as this team is starting to form it even looks more stupid.

at this point I would've just kept Mosgoff eat the contract stretch it whatever package him with someone else.

but we might not have spots for these guys and continue to hamper development.

We could've been running the league and Nasty.

like OKC and Golden State. I want you Lakers fans in here to see why some of us Lakers fans are angry. Our squad could've been.

Pg Ball

sg Russell

Sf Ingram

Pf Kuzma

c Randle/Zubac

Bench Clarkson Kuzma

now before you start barking about Kuzma was part of the Russell Trade I firmly believe we could've drafted him with our pick that we got from Houston.

OKC had Westbrook Harden and Durant Golden State had Curry Thompson and Greene.

Why not go with that development plan and just run the league with a young squad.

The way Ingram is Beasting with Kuzma and how Randle is playing. Marinate on this and think Do you really need a Free Agent???????

Do you want a guy to come in Like Lebron and trade your star guys.

Damn we could've been building the most versatile balanced star roster in the league Makes no sense what Magic was doing.

This was the squad that a guy like Luke could mold into a championship team with the same type of players like the Warriors.

Warriors won a series against a decimated Cleveland team.... then lost to that team when they were healthier .... then went and got one of the best 3 players in the game in FA.

Think of the Lakers in the past. Trade for Kareem, Shaq FA, Trade Divac for Kobe pick, Trade for Gasol. We had a playoff team of drafted young guys in the 90's we gutted in 2 seasons.

The Heat built a team through FA. Cleveland was FA and trades, Houston is FA and trades, Boston is FA and Trades.

In fact where is a team in the last 10 years that didn't have a mix of homegrown, trades and FA.

The key is to being really good is to have one of the top 5 players in the game. We don't even have an All Star much less an all NBA player now or in the near future on this team.

Kuzma was a pick we got in a trade. If's and butts....

... and I think having Cousins anywhere near a young team is pure poison. He plays defense just a little more often than Lopez too.

We need an "Alpha" to take some heat off the young guys and one that's got the character you want the young guys to follow not a guy like Cousins.

I think going after free agents right now, isn't the greatest move either. Lebron's window is closing anyways and the Warriors are not going anywhere. I would rather see us go after the big fish in two/three years and build from within. And yes, the first thing Lebron would do is ask the FO to trade Ingram and Lonzo for win now players.

Thank you Michael Lucky I totally agree with you.

The first trade Lebron would say Trade Ingram and Lonzo for Westbrook a trade like that.

or Lonzo Ingram Kuzma for Anthony Davis.

I kind of disagree with the other post. all I'm saying is those OKC teams were built through the draft Curry Thompson Green I saw it firsthand and no matter how you want to slice it the Warriors won a championship.

in todays NBA you have to build through the draft I think the trading players for cap space and going after free agents is ignorant. it's lazy scouting and a lazy way to build a team.

after the Steve Nash and Dwight Howard trades Lebron Melo and Durant saying no those are superstar players why trade a young cornerstone you drafted that you tanked for a to get free agents to tell you no again?

I thought our new approach would be building these young guys.

I think Brandon Ingram is an all star and can be an all star and that alpha player you have to give him a opportunity to play not by acquiring players who play his position. That guy will develop into a superstar at some time you have to develop and build the core.

and have a foundation where your players can become something special. We got Shaq at 24 Lebron is not that right now. we aren't developing with him. he's playing two seasons and then he's bouncing. so the player we are acquiring or are supposed to be acquiring we aren't getting. that. I could see if you were getting Shaq but we aren't getting. that guys like Karl Anthony Towns aren't coming as free agents and aren't free agents. Cousins is the guy cause at least you can say Cousins and Ingram that's two superstars Kobe and Shaq. and have Lonzo as some kind of compliment that's all I can say.

There comes a time when a team has to add FAs to enhance the team while keeping the momentum going or escalate it to the next level. If we stayed with Dlo, then we would be adding zero target FAs as we would have no cap space. Without flexibility, all of our hopes would be on the youngster maturing and hoping nothing goes wrong. Time was running out too with Randle decision after this year and Dlo the year after.

I know the trade was controversial but I still believe it was the right decision. As of today, Dlo is recovering from injury and Mozgov is not playing. A big DNP - Coaches Decision for the Mozgov. Trading away Dlo was risky but it 100% netted us Kuzma. (Sure we could have still gotten Kuzma but not 100% sure and we still would be out Hart/Thomas). Now if Magic traded away the whole youth team then it would be the ultimate mistake but its just one piece. That one piece has changed the team culture and focus. Plus we get the flexibility to add a PG or Cousins or LeBron or 2 of those pieces with a smart move. The flexibility and options were too necessary.

Right now, the big question is who can we lure. I am leaning more towards going after 1 MAX guy like PG. I like PG's defense, 3 point shooting plus we would have a sure closer with the option of patiently building Kuzma, Ingram and others. Magic, Pelinka and Luke have to love what they are getting from Randle this year. There is a big potential to extend Randle and add PG plus add a few key role players as now we have that option. All this because of the Dlo trade.

Lastly, the Dlo trade hasnt ended as the trading deadline will mean more moves with expiring contracts in Lopez plus other like KCP, Brewer and Bogut. We shall see what other assets Dlo's trade nets us by year's end.

D'Angelo has missed half the damn season already, hasn't played in weeks, and is out indefinitely.

You really shouldn't post about him again until he is at least back on the floor.

It just looks bad.

I agree... D'Angelo Russell wasn't good enough to deserve the love he got when he was here, he certainly isn't good enough now to deserve threads like this...
We're better without him. .
