Mikal Bridges

Post#1 » by The-Power » Sun Dec 3, 2017 5:54 pm

The Mikal Bridges Fanclub welcomes you in his thread. Is he going to be a top 3 or only a top 5 pick? Discuss!

PS: Obviously anything other than being the GOAT at the end of his career would be a huge disappointment for me at this point. I'm all in!

Easily, but its tough giving up on guys with perceived higher upside. Mikal is probably the most nba ready in the draft and his upside is still there, but just not as exciting perhaps.

That's probably fair, I'd be okay with teams betting on the ceiling of guys with maybe a chance of been initiators or heavily featured offensive players ahead of him though, I have him 9th, and the only reason behind is that one.

76ers would love him with the Lakers pick.

I'm a huge fan of Bridges. He's the first guy I have behind the obvious top 5.

I consider myself a big fan of him as well, but think people might be getting carried away with just how high some people are ranking him here. He's probably 7-10 for me.

What a defensive profile though, love him.

I need to watch him play. I haven't had a chance to catch Villanova play but they are always a team that I watch in the RS. I heard he made a leap from the time I saw him last season

Who are the obvious top 5 in your eyes, if I might ask? Because many people seem to either have a top 6 or at least five of those six players (Doncic, Ayton, Bagley, Porter, Bamba, Jackson) as their top 5 in different variations. Moreover, some have been high enough on Sexton, Young and/or Miles Bridges to have one of them in their top 5, from what I have seen.

That seems like the range most of his fans tend to rank him.

Agreed. I really love him, but I'm not sure he has much #1 option upside to him. Projects much better as a key rotational/starter player on a playoff team.

Someone told me they could see him being a Kris Middleton type player at his ceiling. I think that's fair.

I think he might be Battier, I'd probably take him top6 right now without much hesitation depends on the team though.

This, I'm fine with elite role player with 6-8 pick, so if I would be for example Sixers office and have 6-7. pick next year, I wouldn't think too much and just take sure thing like Mikal, but if my team lacks upside maybe I'll go with Sexton or Miles Bridges. But it seems that with 6-8 pick there's possibility that Cavs and Sixers will select their players.

I think his potential is Otto Porter with better defense, and Porter is very good defender recently.

If Lebron stays the Cavs should be all over him.

I'm leaving out Jackson, but I understand he's turning some heads early on.

Can he be an All-Star without a handle / shot creation?

This is my issue with him. At the same time he just needs to learn two-step separation moves a la Klay Thompson and Khris Middleton. One of my issues is that most of his threes are right at the college three point line. Those are twos in the NBA, but his stroke says he can figure it out. I’d also like to see him shoot more off-balance threes or threes leading to fouls. It’s not a bad thing, but he’s kind of a really conservative player.

Depends on the system and the personnel grouping. More times than not, no.

I don't think comparisons like Middleton are realistic, because it's severely downplaying the jump from a serviceable 3/D option to a legit shot maker like Middleton. Middleton is a near 20 point scorer, averages 4 assists per game as well. I can't see Mikal ever reaching those heights offensively.

That said, Bridges should be the more dynamic defensive presence, he's really versatile and more of a game changer.
