I mean, they werent gonna win any games even with Eli at the helm, IMO. I think the team just quit on McAdoo, and that's fine. In that case though, I think the Giants should have waited until week 15/16 to fire him, and let their draft position be clearer. What if they rally around Spags and win a couple games now, moving them from the likely #2/3 pick into the 7/8 range?

Also, it seems like Eli might still be a Giant next year based on this news. Why put him back in a starting role if you aren't keeping him around for next year?

Giants Fire Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese

And Eli has been reinstated as the starter for week 14 (as per reports).

Streak ruined for no reason....

Mara says he could have overruled it and the Eli decision had nothing to do with the firing. I'm calling bulsh on the first point (I believe he was part of that) but I tend to agree with the second point. Nothing to be gained by keeping either the Coach or GM.

I agree, it was time for both to go.

Yea, I agree with the bolded. Not just because of the draft pick, but just in general, if you're already out of running, finish the season before making coaching/GM changes. If they were planning on firing McAdoo, they should have done so weeks ago. If they weren't sure, just wait until the end. Get rid of the coach and GM in the offseason.

What this does give them is a potential opportunity to get a head start on finding a new coach and GM.
