Sweet. It's good to keep your options open and these are great deals in that sense. Still hoping they do better in free agency though. I'm not normally a win-now guy, but you probably don't have to commit to long-term deals to upgrade the pen and possibly back-up catcher.

Hughes cut
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yeah, he was being projected to get a bit over $2 million in arbitration. Stearns already publicly said they aren't opposed to bringing him back but they probably want him cheap and he wants to shop around in FA.

Vogt/Pina is about as good as you're gonna do with what they have right now. I'd say just stick with that now that we know Vogt is in the fold.

I expect one of bandy or susak to be cut soon to clear a 40 man spot.

Susac has options left and was injured most of the year. Granted when he did play he was awful.

I'm sure they're playing it safe, but I'd cut or try to deal (for peanuts) Bandy. I'd imagine there'd be no takers but no more use for Bandy at this point.

Im sure something will happen there. Only Susac and Nottingham have options for guys on the 40. Vogt has Non-G'd money too. The issue with Vogt is that he just isnt very good at much of anything. Bandy at least can throw runners out.

True. I guess its possible they bring bandy to camp and its an open competition for the 2nd catcher job and then you clear a 40 man spot at the end of spring training for a camp invite guy who plays well.

I don't see how the Giants could come up with a package that would make sense for Santana. Now Broxton on the other hand....

It would have to be Arroyo, Ramos, Beede, and Crick. I would even ask for Seth Corry in the deal. Its a really hard trade match-up for Santana because his value is at an all time high. Its a sellers market right now and even for Broxton I would hold out for a top guy from them.

We should start seeing some action next week from the winter meetings firing up Sunday. As an aside we do not have a 40 spot right open. I would imagine we definitely go into the Rule 5 with at least one spot open.

Still wouldn't be close to enough for me.

Probably not. That would be an easy offer to dangle to have it get beat by another team. Ramos would be the “get” in their system. Crick is also intriguing for the MLB pen help. Broxton is the logical fit there.

What are thoughts on trading a guy like Santana? He's under control for 3 years only way Id do it is if they get at least two sure fire all star prospects. I love stacking talent but the brewers have a ton a of good prospects. They need elite talent in the farm.

I dont think Domingo nets you a Chris Sale return.

No not him alone but he could be a big piece of a trade for a young good pitcher. Thats the type of deal Id be cool trading in. Sure there are some packages of prospects that would be fair value for him but I'm not sure a deal like that really makes sense for the brewers unless one of those prospects was a pitcher with true top of the rotation potential.
