decent outing. he is still WAY off what we saw at Texas, he needs confidence and comfort. at Texas he was super aggressive. here he looks really tentative. i think once he is comfortable we will see the guy we saw at texas.

6 Pts, 6 Rebs vs Dallas.

Coach Rick Carlisle has been impressed with Allen, a 19-year-old native of Austin, Texas, who was taken 22nd by the Nets.

“Nice player,” Carlisle said before the Mavs faced the Nets Wednesday night at American Airlines Center. “I love his length, he’s got great hands and a very good skill set. He’s demonstrated the ability to shoot the ball with range as well as make plays around the basket.

“He’s made some very high basketball-IQ passes, recognizing switches and stuff like that. He appears to be the kind of guy who is probably going to be a late bloomer physically because he’s so slender.”

After the ASB and if our season is toast. I see him getting big minutes and being allowed to play through mistakes. Right now Moz is trash. Zeller has been so so. I would like to see Allens Minutes gradually increase and if he is on a roll keep him in. But Kenny's love of small ball may hinder that. Minutes and players looking for him more often will see his comfort levels rise. IMHO

KA on Big Jay:

“I’m happy with how he fits our system, I’m happy with his competitiveness, happy that he gives us a 7-foot rim protector and rim-roller,” Atkinson said. “We’re very good defensively when he’s on the court, the analytics back that up, he’s what he thought.”

This year is all about getting him comfortable and acclamated. he is just 19. he looks nothing like he did at texas which is exciting since you now those things will come once he gets the ins and outs of the nba and the systems down.

im excited for what he will look at the last couple weeks of the year

Not even 30 games into his rookie season yet but his chemistry with LeVert is clear, especially on the PnR. Love it.

he destroyed the entire hawks team within a 5 minute stretch. those dunks took them right out of the game. rewatch the footage. the hawks were DONE after those dunks.

we need more of that.

That small period in the last with those dunks was unlike anything I’ve seen from a Brooklyn team #TrustTheProgress

It was unreal. I don't think I've seen that kind of outburst before in all my years of watching the Nets. might have to go back to the Kidd/VC days to when Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson demolished Alonzo Mourning with three hammer dunks (two from VC, 1 from RJ) in a game versus the Heat, probably was 2006 if i remember correctly. But that was during the course of an entire game. Allen was doing that on back to back possessions in a row

he'll be starting before too long. defenses will pay a heavy price if they let him roll freely like the hawks did.

Fun to look at some of his advanced stats - excluding Wiley and Lin who have played an inconsequential number of minutes, Allen has:

Offensive rating of 119, second best on team (Dinwiddie, 121)
Defensive rating of 106, best on team
.138 win shares / 48 minutes, second best on team (Dinwiddie, .164)
Defensive +/- of 2.6, best on team

The team is clearly better with Fro on the floor, can't wait to see him carve out a bigger role as the season progresses.

The kid should be starting tomorrow against the Thunder. He’s clearly the most productive big on the roster and it isn’t even close.

It’s terrible that Mozgov is so trash that Atkinson would rather play Rondae at Center.
