Look at the inflated assist numbers, and uncontested rebounds...those stats mean nothing...see Westbrook, Russell

Also PPG with a terrible shooting percentage. You can put up damn good meaningful stats on a bad team, people are mis-interpreting this topic.

Kevin Love in Minny was the empty stat God.

Amazing.
This changes everything.
Weird that someone without an argument finds a way to be sarcastic.
I have yet to see an argument from you. Wow his true shooting percentage is amazing , must be nice shooting wide open 3s when the offense is focused on LeBron. I was talking about his Minny days anyways , he was not nearly the impactful player his stats say he was.
Nah, you made a link with the present by saying "He still has everyone fooled thinking he is sacrificing for Lebron."
And I've made an argument, showing the Wolves record (40-42) and the team he played with.
In the season, we should be looking at, his best, his last with the wolves, every stats say that he was great : .245 WS/48, 8.4 BPM, 7.3 VORP.
When he was on the court, their offensive rating went from 101.2 to 111.6, while the opponent offensive rating went from 106.5 to 106.0, for a differential of +10.9.
And what wasn't said is that the Wolves were 40-42, but they were 39-38 when he played and 1-4 when he didn't. So with that bad team, he had a winning record in the toughest conference...
What do you have mister sarcastic? Nothing, am I right?

I might offend somebody on our board but....
His stats straight up scammed 2 franchises. Not even Chris Smoove could resurrect his career

Elgin Baylor.
He played no defense. Lakers won 33 consecutive games right after he retired.
What if they traded him earlier?

Devin Booker last year for example was one of the more hollow stat lines I've seen. 22ppg and only a 14.9 PER /.53% true shooting both under league average.
Yeah, a 20-year-old kid is the king of empty stats.
I think you need a little more time in the league to claim that crown.
I said empty stat seasons and it certainly was. He had no business being the #1 option last year. Maybe it's not his fault but it is what it was. That's all that was said, nothing about his future or potential.
Well it's not a good example of "King of Empty Stats". When you're asked to score on a team that is actively tanking and the rest of the team isn't very good at creating their own shot, your efficiency is obviously going to suffer, especially when you're as young as he is. Place him on a good team with players that actually demand some attention and he would have been far more efficient. His efficiency also improved quite a bit towards the last few months. He started the year extremely slowly. The Suns simply had some terrible offensive players that were far less efficient than he was. Bledsoe and Warren were the only decent offensive players on the team and both spent a good amount of time injured or sitting out.
And his efficiency is quite a bit better this year. He's starting to live up to his reputation as a future top scorer in the league. He just needs to become a better defender.

Lol dude I don't care about VORP and BPM I watched the guy play in Minny and Cle , he's a good player but nowhere close to a superstar and his numbers were inflated playing Minny. If he was actually a star then Cle would have a much better chance against the warriors. I'm still waiting for him to execute a post move without getting blocked by 6'8 Draymond Green playing the C. If the Cavs had a real inside player like Prime Pau Gasol instead of Prime Kevin Love , they would be much much better off. And im solely talking about offense , not even mentioning his atrocious defense.

Okay, you don't care about stats and you have nothing. You can't even give an answer about the +.500 record and the differential when he was on the court. You're also back talking about Cleveland when you told me in the last post that you were only talking about his Minny Days. Next time, don't use sarcasm if you only have your own biased point of view to back your claim.

Re: King of Empty stats
Calderon got a lot of assists by dribbling for 20 seconds and then making a pass to a guy who had to throw up a contested shot with <4 seconds left on the shot clock. They were very empty assists

The best players Carmelo ever played with were over the hill Iverson and Billups and he led those Nuggets to the Playoffs multiple times. I wouldn't argue that he was always a one dimensional player but to say that he was the king of empty stats is just not stating fact - he had tremendous success being a top tier one dimensional scorer.
You can argue Durant had less success in a similar role despite having better teammates - sure his teams got further but he had infinitely better players surrounding him in Westbrook and Harden. Prime Melo never got anyone nearly as good as one of those, let alone both. So to argue Melo as the "King of Empty Stats" is to argue that Durant is too.
Ricky Davis was the king of empty stats in recent memory. Mobley/Maggette also if anyone remembers that duo.
Monta Ellis and Steve "Franchise" Francis also come to mind.

Re: King of Empty stats
One key clue that you may have an empty stats guy is when the team actually plays better when said player is off the floor, albeit this can be masked to some extent if the bench is really bad. You like to see a multi-year trend in this case, though.
A player like Kevin Love actually does pretty well in this stat because even when he's not contributing to the box score, he's helping with the floor spacing - which is often critical to making the offense hum; but this season the 2nd unit has been a lot more effective spreading the floor..
I mean, it's one thing to say Kevin isn't a superstar, but a PF/C who can space the court, rebound, pass, and score is pretty valuable in a league where bigs who can do only one of those things are valued.

All-empty stats team:
PG: Derrick Rose
SG: DeMar Derozan
SF: Andrew Wiggins
PF: Serge Ibaka
C: Enes Kanter
That team has star power across the board and between the ball-stopping and the poor D, they might not win 20 games.
