Nerlens Noel Out 4-6 Weeks With Thumb Surgery

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Dec 7, 2017 3:01 pm

Nerlens Noel will undergo surgery on a torn ligament near his left thumb.

Noel will likely be out between four and six weeks.

The Dallas Mavericks hope Noel returns before the trade deadline. Noel rejected a four-year, $72 million offer from Dallas this past offseason and signed for the qualifying offer.

"It's not anything crazy," Noel said. "It's a pretty common injury for a basketball player. I'm just going to get it taken care of. I showed it to the trainers and they said, that it's not right. They said I should probably get some surgery and get it fixed up now.

"I can play basketball with it. A couple guys in here have had it."

Probably a torn fingernail. Dallas just wants him away from their team.

he's soft. when he doesn't get his way he just makes up a bogus injury. Did that with the Sixers too.

Well, this went south fast. Perhaps record worthy. He went from cornerstone building block to an afterthought in less than a year. It would almost be impressive if his career wasn't spinning round the toilet bowl right now.

Must have trapped his thumb in a loose board on the bench

Players don't have surgery for bogus injuries.

Damn, that sucks. Not like DAL, was relying on him much though.

You must not have followed Nerlens career too closely. He's a malcontent.

DAL knows Noel isn’t staying and have been treating him as such all year long. This surgery is quite convenient to get Noel away from the team for awhile. He’ll come back in late January, play good minutes in a few games, and then they will try like hell to get him to accept a trade.

DAL in fulltank mode. Nerlens has NO Trade Value; might as well sit him down, and play some youngsters.
Poor Dirk, not a good way to go out in his final year.

Whether I followed his career or not is irrelevant here. Reading the actual story though, is. As said in the article, " I showed it to the trainers and they said, that it's not right. They said I should probably get some surgery and get it fixed up now."

Or are you claiming the team trainers and doctors who did the surgery are also malcontents? They wouldn't operate if he wasn't injured.

I guarantee you if he were playing he wouldnt have the surgery. He did the same thing in Philly when he wasnt playing.

Again, that's irrelevant. You claimed he made up a bogus injury. I've now pointed out twice, he did not.

Who would have thought he would have less trade value now than last year when we got Justin Anderson and a 2nd rounder for him. Oh yeah I did

Still like him for the Knicks.
