You have to have the brain the size of a peanut to watch Inside the NBA for good basketball talk. In general, they have a problem with analyzing basketball. The show should be renamed Outside the NBA because they don't even talk about basketball.

I'd liken the experience to a barber shop. Good for people who wanna have a good time(ideally kids or casual basketball fans), bad for trying to get meaningful analysis(hardcore fans/statisticians).
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player

lol @ all the hate on inside the NBA

the show is the funniest thing on TV. i dont want to watch a bunch of doughy hipster cornballs who dont even look like they play basketball rattle off lines of useless statistics like they do in those dumb shows like the starters

I'd rather watch funny ass NBA legends roast each other and everything in sight as well as give ex-pro/hall of fame insight on the game being played today.

inside the nba is legendary and a huge part of the NBA. Deal with it. This isnt the boring ass MLB

But this is what I think most people are talking about. I don't care who the insight is coming from when it is just factually wrong.

For instance I don't care who says Embiid is in the MVP conversation but Giannis isn't and that's because They Bucks haven't been as successful. Going into last night the Bucks had the same exact record as Philly. So I don't care if that came from a random dude on the street or Webber, that's just bad insight.

Someone saying CP3 isn't known for his defense even though he has been considered arguably the best defensive PG the last decade and has 7 defensive first teams and 2 defensive second teams so far in his career is just bad insight. Again I don't care who says it, a random dude or Shaq, that's bad insight.

I think most people wouldn't be complaining so much about it if they just did the bare minimum and do a quick Google search on the teams they're talking about that night. But they clearly don't and it shows very clearly.

Tell me more about how you evaluate TV shows based on how 'doughy' the guys are.

Inside the NBA's funny, yeah, but if you're listening seriously to their "insight" then you've got real problems on your hands.

Hood is in our squad, so my guess is no.

I think you guys should trade hood. Unless he can turn his game around like Burks has I'm not all too sure he will mesh with a rookie Mitchell leading the shots taken. Mostly it's because of the constant injury issues and his value could be quite high for some teams.

That's my point exactly.
I mean those guys are getting paid handsomely, is it really that much to ask that they be a little knowledgeable about the handful of teams they cover that week?
Especially when they offer their opinions as if they know what they are talking about.

Yup this is why I cant stand "Players Only", Id rather stream to listen for local broadcast and watch on my computer than listen to the Players Only broadcast. Those nights its even worse because you dont even have the play by play guy to try and reel in the color commentator, the whole game is basically color commentating and I think its a horrible experience.

But on the flip side, I love the show Open Court on NBA TV. Thats when I think the insight of former players is tremendous and I can watch Open Court all day long. But when it comes to guys trying to analyze the game, would I rather listen to Zach Lowe a dude that looks like hes never dribbled a ball in his life or Chris Webber or Reggie Miller who are former greats. Id rather listen to Lowe because he is much better at breaking down all the evidence available to him and creating a clear picture on what is working and not working for a team or player.

I think former players have a spot in media when it comes to telling stories and reflecting, but the majority of them are honestly horrible at analyzing the game. The ones that do end up being good at analyzing the game tend to become coaches or work in the front office. And like I said last night, I much prefer listening to former coaches than former players (not all coaches are good of course). Coaches tend to be able to break down the game much better than just players. Plus I think most players get these gigs after they retire and think since they played the game they dont need to do the extra work because they already know everything and it ends up they dont.

Eric Gordon's shooting over his last 8-10 games or so is pretty awful

Frustrating because he's been doing the other stuff so well. Attacking and finishing at the basket, getting to the line, playing great D... but the one thing we knew he could do before, he stinks at. Weird.

Need to start talking about that. Can't afford a poor 3-point shooter. They should probably focus on his mechanics and whatnot first and foremost in practice. CP3 should talk to him about how he likes to catch the ball. The Rockets would be even deadlier with him shooting well.
