Tatum and Mitchell should both be extremely good players, perennial All-Stars if healthy.

Simmons on the other hand is a generational talent, he could be the best player the league has seen since LeBron.

Yeah Tatum is the best player now, Mitchell is surging and has a bright future ahead of him, but Simmons is the clear answer here.

Simmons could be this generation’s Magic Johnson. His ceiling is that high. With the body he has and the vision he’s displayed, he could legitimately end up the best player in the league one day. The other two just don’t have that upside.

Probably go with Simmons too, but the talk about the others having more limited upside seems incredibly premature. Jazz fan so I obviously am a bit of a Mitchell fan, but he compares decently well with any rookie scoring/combo guard we've seen since Jordan. Tatum has the somewhat strange role of being a secondary player on a contender as a great rookie, so there aren't many comparison points, but he's been incredible as well.

All three have looked outstanding. Simmons, barring injury should have the best career. Then I’d go with Tatum. He’s still 19 years old, while the other two are 21 so his projection is a little more difficult to get a handle on in a sense, but still he’s putting up 14/6 on 65%TS — and he’s just super polished.

Jordan was a rookie a long time ago, Ron Harper definitely looked better as a rook

That said, this statement is more correct than I thought at first glance. He’s up there with what we saw from Lillard, Wade, Vince et al. Harper was the only one I remembered off the top of my head, although I didn’t check a ton, but yeah this is really impressive.

I don't see any argument for those two over Simmons for ROY.

I'd say Simmons then Mitchell, it's somewhat close there.

Because there isn’t one. The voting will reflect that as well, ROY is already over and Simmons has won by a landslide.

I don't agree. Simmons is a landslide right now, but Mitchell is developing at a rapid pace and the narrative could change by the end of the year. Still project Simmons to have the best career of all three, though.

Simmons will probably average a triple double for a season in his career. He probably will be better than Magic and Bird if healthy because of defense.

Simmons is a beast. He really has Lebron-like potential. But damn that j really is ugly.... uglier than Rubio's, wall's ever was coming into the league. But we've seen players make the transition.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

To be fair, most posts were talking about potential - which was there. No one believed back then that he can actually develop backwards.

Still interesting to reevaluate the thread, especially given both Boston and Cleveland started the year great
