Man. There is nothing that Mike James can do to please this board but roll over and die! 25 points o. 50% shooting and he is the goat. Meanwhile Ulis plays horrible but he is just fine.
Great case of groupthink going on here.

I'll see you all when Mike James and the Suns battle the Kings.

I can't speak for the rest on this board, nor can I make any judgement on him since I only watched the 4th quarter. My issue is with Triano's game plan for that last play.

I don't know about that...James getting high votes on the Nashty and Ulis getting low votes.

Because Mike James has a complex now. Where maybe he once was humble, he think its his time to shine, and that he is this teams savior. I guess being the first player ever to go from the 2 way contract into the league does that, along with going from the G-League to a starting PG spot, it made him think he is better than he really is.
As for "Just" that final shot, in his mind, he could run down the clock, hit a 3 to put us up by 2, and it would give the Spurs around 5 seconds (The left over time) to try to tie the game. If you rewatch that play and turn the sound all the way up, im pretty sure you can hear him yell, "KOBE!" as he releases the shot.
Even funnier is that his plan to kill the clock down was interrupted. I dont know if it was Coach or teammates that were yelling at him, but all of a sudden he looked surprised right before he jacked up the final shot, giving the spurs around 12 seconds rather than the 5 they would have had if he waited for the clock to wind down.
He did good this game (Somewhat). Still looks for his own offense before worrying about teammates or what the smart play would be, but at least he was actually hitting his shots at a good clip. I guess thats what happens when your playing the Spurs while they decide to rest most of their good players.

I don't like either

But honestly, losing to Spurs resting several of their best players is a joke...

I would love to let JJ run the team a little more. He damn sure wasn’t drafted to stand in the corner at #4. If that was the case, we’d be better off with Markennen. Should have drafted Fox or DSJ instead of Jackson.
This FO is the worst. If you draft a guy in a “stack” draft that high and he can’t play or start on a team full of lower level NBA talent, then your inept.
Either JJ sucks and you drafted wrong or JJ is gonna back up TJ and you drafted wrong. I guess JJ will be ready to take over when TJ contract is up in 4 years. Yuck!!! It’s like we are playing to try to compete at the expense of developing players....and worsen our draft pick at the same time....smh.

Yup, JJ sucks and we drafted wrong because he's a rookie not starting over a guy averaging almost 20/6 at his position. Yup, we should have JJ run the team when he has nearly twice as many turnovers as he does assists. Yup, this "stack" draft has all been great outside of JJ, wish we drafted one of the point guards that have all struggled out of the gate (but let's also pretend they haven't struggled!).
I swear this forum is like kids and new toys when it comes to prospects. Oooo shiny... but wait what's that!?

Really good to see our young guys get minutes.
The Booker injury is going to open up more shots for Chriss/Bender/Jackson. We will get a chance to see who can step up as the second option to TJ.
We get to tank, solidify that 3rd spot, and develop our youngsters. Win/Win.

Mike James isn't great, but he isn't awful. It's just s shame we're playing him instead of a young PG that fits the timeline. I mean really, anyone would have been better. Exum, Mudiay, Dunn. Shoulda traded Bledsoe earlier and taken a swing at a guy with potential.

Whenever an argument comes up against James, I've mostly leaned in defense of him but that last play, I can't defend it. When the ball was brought cross court and I started seeing movement on offense, I could see the play was made for TJ to take the last shot. We were only down 1 with 21 seconds left on the shot clock. Plenty of time to get TJ the ball. But with about 12 seconds left and with TJ out on the perimeter, it didn't seem like there were any effort on James' end to try and get TJ the ball. I pretty much knew at that point (with a good 10 seconds left) that James was going to channel Kobe and take the last shot.
It was just a bad, hero-ball pull up 3 PT attempt which we didn't need when we were only down 1. I'll give him full credit for playing well up to that point in the 4th quarter having helped us crawl back from 8 down to open the 4th but that final play just wasn't a good one. Even if he hadn't/couldn't pass it to TJ, when you're down by ONE point, at HOME, you just don't need an iso pull up 3 ball. I would've given him a pass if he had tried to take it inside and either get the 2 points and/or drawn the foul but when it comes to bad possessions, this is just bad.
I'm not putting this loss solely on him but I am criticizing his decision making in that last possession.

Wanting to see your young guys play is stupid. Playing guys to watch them grow is dumb, they have to show how great they are in practice first. Playing a rookie who does dumb rookie things is stupid. Tanking when your team is hot trash is stupid. Developing young guys by letting them play thru mistakes is silly. Don’t play them, trade them like Olidipo a few times.

Buying your kid a new toy and not letting him play with is the way to go parent of the year!

There's a reason he went undrafted for so many seasons probably because he has bad PG instincts, still I think he is a good 3rd string PG who shouldn't be given playing time late in the 4th and his contract is dirt cheap.

He is a limited player which is why I said I can't put the loss solely on him especially when he did his thing to keep us in the game. I do think he's a fine 3rd stringer but he should be called out when he makes a terrible play.
