Haven't had a winning year in over 12 seasons. Haven't won over 33 in 10 seasons. Yet went out and spent 100 million on vets to help this year, and are still on pace for 25 wins.

I'm not sure how much inept you require to call something a dumpster fire, but it meets most everyone else's qualifications.

Didn't realize he was getting paid that much. It was a no brainer to go to the Kings in that case. $8M is several times a vet minimum deal.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

"Not surprisingly, Hill isn’t happy, according to multiple sources And the other veterans can’t be too happy, either. So the Kings have a mess on their hands.

Hill also took the money after turning that extension in Utah and having the market dry up on him. The difference is that he is 31 and at the end of his prime vs Zbo being 36 and Carter being 40. Hill has been the starter but far too often he hasn't been finishing games so I think that is where his frustration come from. The guy has been pretty damn efficient in his 25mpg.

I was shocked at Carter's decision the most during the off-season. He's made enough to not need a payday and prioritize winning. I feel like he should have either stayed in Memphis or joined Toronto.

Considering that he has a pretty successful stint as a TV analyst/commentator, I was pretty shocked myself. The guy is still incredibly popular and his earning potential away from the game is there.

At the end of the day, 8m is 8m though  Sucks that he didn't make his return to us.. but there isn't much playing time here anyways with Lowry, FVV, Delon, Norm, DeMar, Miles and OG all currently getting meaningful minutes.

The Kings were the only team going to pay what these guys are making. They happily took the money to play for a crappy direction-less organization so they ought to just hush up and cash those checks.

Really? Bullying? People who think your sports team sucks now, are bullying? Or is "suck" too strong of a word too? How about they're "quite a bit below average", is that cool?

I think it's pretty accurate and there's nothing wrong with calling them out for the situation they put themselves in.

Been a Warrior fan since 1988 and sat through the Chris Cohan (1994-2010) era with 1 playoff appearance in 16 seasons (in a league where half the teams make it every year). They got the same kind of criticism and it hurt to have to sit through that and have your favorite team mocked at every turn, but the truth is they deserved every bit of it (and probably more).

No sympathy - as has been said, everyone knew the deal when they chased $ over winning. Even the SAC fans knew the deal.

I think it’s derisive name calling, and it’s unfortunate as Kings fans that we can’t read threads without the typical “kick them when their down” users. I have no problem with folks objectively pointing out the team is struggling, but I don’t see how terms like dumpster fire are necessary

The team is struggling to get back to respectability, for sure, though.

You turn down a huge contract to stay in Utah....then you take the most money you can stillfind even though it’s clearly a terrible team at the start of a long rebuild.... then you show up and play the worst ball of your career.....

I’m not sure how Hill could have seen any of this in advance...

He shouldn't have balked at the utah deal, this was his first big contract and he took him, regardless to what he was or wasn't told when he signed, all he had to do was look at the roster, no sympathy for him, sac is basketball hell and he signed with them

Hey - don’t take it too hard - people frequently call the Cleveland Cavaliers a dumpster fire, and their owner the worst owner in the league - and they’ve been to 3 straight finals and came back from a 3-1 deficit to win a championship just two seasons ago. I think the line between the greatest franchise ever and a “dumpster fire” is very, very thin... I think the only teams immune from the dumpster fire label at this point are the Spurs, the Celtics and the Warriors - maybe Houston. Everyone else seems to be fair game.

Probably using that excuse to justify a trade request. No playoff team was offering him that kind of money and he probably thought it wouldn't be that bad of an idea to collect checks on a below average young and rebuiling team. He must have underestimated how much it sucks to be a starter on a team like this with having young, mostly average to below average teammates and veteran teammates who are over the hill. Not fun at all. Its totally different being on a young playoff caliber team compared to being on a bottom dweller. Shout out to buddy hield who is having a great sophomore season.
