I know people say Dennis Smith JR will be better then Frank but i have tbh i just like Frank's overall game more can pass, facilitate, and now is starting to show the ability to shoot but most importantly a solid defender to go along with good ATH.

He just is such a better all-around player then Dennis Smith JR.

This team did something tonight that I haven't seen in almost a decade...

When our star is not having success posting up and iso'ing because the defense is overloading towards him, we simply ran the offense from the other wing and back cut against the cheating defense.

Beasley isn't Chris Paul, but Doug McDermott and the Lakers defense gave us openings. I'm glad the whole team, especially Frank, had the recognition to take advantage.

Great to see Frank getting big minutes tonight. This was what we hoped for...

Lakers defended him very well. Not a lot of easy points. His offense was just too much for them tonight.

Summary:

With a game on National TV, we finally played like we deserved to be on National TV. To see our two cornerstones show out was priceless. It was a tough game with a lot of back-and-forth play, but we tightened up our play in the 2nd half and finished up in OT.
Lakers core is interesting, but all the TOs and a generally silent Ingram hurt them tonight.

Frank had the best game of his rookie season so far. The vision, the clutch buckets, the fearlessness. He shut down Ball on defense and the combo of him and KP really made things difficult for Ingram and others. Both KP and Frank can bail out bad defense with their length. He had a 13-5-5 with three 3s and a steal. Even though he only had 1 steal, he made a defensive impact everywhere and also securing the boards to push up the fast break. I liked a few of his dishes in the 4th to find McBuckets and O'Quinn for easy buckets.

KP was a flamethrower almost all night. It's crazy because at times he was forcing up shots and having a real hard time against Brook Lopez and Randle. However, he got hot from three and it just continued throughout the game. He was definitely fouled a few times in the post, but the refs missed those calls. His defensive impact was priceless because Ball, Pope, and Ingram couldn't even get any easy layups. Just a unicorn performance from him. 37-11-5 blocks, 5 threes. No one's ever done that.

The 4th quarter lineup was an interesting choice by Jeff. Even though Beasley sucked in the 1st half, he was actually quite competent in the 4th/OT. He got a ton of easy buckets tricking the Lakers defense by reminding people he's a lefty. He actually crashed the glass a few times there too and got a steal. Just a lot of hustle plays. He even was finding Dougie McBuckets off the cuts, which is amazing because I really didn't think he knew how to pass.... then I remembered Kurt Rambis coached him in Minny and ran the triangle and Beasley had the best season of his career then. Even though I can't really stand him, he had a good game tonight. 13 points, 5 boards, 1 steal.

Doug has been a constant in the 4th quarter lineup and his cutting has been a huge difference maker. Beasley, Kyle, and Frank love to find him for easy buckets. Crazy part is that he's shot way more layups and short range shots than threes tonight. It's just an added dimension on offense. His defense also wasn't bad as well. 10 points.

Kyle was the recipient of easy buckets from Frank, but he's just too frustrating to watch at times with dumb fouls and silly turnovers. I really don't want to see him and Beasley together.

The remaining 60% of our starting lineup was blah. Lee helped us cut the deficit in the 2nd quarter, but was largely to blame for building that deficit with just dumb decisions. Botched layups, dumb shots, missed shot opportunities, etc. Not the best night for him. Jack ended up getting a few easy assists off KP feeds, but Ball smoked him most of the night. Kanter got buckets and had a double double, but was rendered useless once we went small. Lance, meh. I honestly want quick triggers for those three the moment they begin to falter.

Jeff, please start Frank.

Thanks

Can anyone believe Beasley came through in the clutch today? I was just about ready to release him.
