his versatility on defense is why. i don't see a need for KCP when we have timmy though

KCP is expiring, so it doesn't really matter. Let him take Lance's mins, trade Lee, or buy him out.

i'll still pass. moves like this only hurts our draft position. if we not going to trade for someone who will be part of our long term plans, we should just stand put. i'm not going to pay KCP

 Jeff's been bringing Frank along at the right pace. He's done a great job with Frank.

I mean, I can't disagree with that. But there's been several moments in games where Frank's hot or Frank is moving the offense along well and then Hornacek subs in Jack and we lose all momentum. That's not really the right pace.

I can't seem to recall another game where Frank was "hot" and Jeff took him out. I'll concede that Jeff probably erred on the side of caution. That said, I really don't have a problem with the way it's gone. It's still only 2 months into the season.

Someone might need to help me with examples but I can think of moments where we need Frank's defense and Hornacek subs Jack in and we just lose all momentum.

Again, not disagreeing with your points. It is what it is, call it growing pains or whatever. But it's nice to see Frank's development progressing.

Totally misread the post. I thought it was KCP in addition to Randle.

Yea, it's a hard pass on KCP for me too

This is where I'm at as well. I think randle is talented but has serious flaws that he's in danger of getting past the point of being coached out of him. That price is good and eventually we're going to have to make a decision on KOQ/Billy. If the return on that decision is Randle then I'd be fine with it. He's intriguing and in theory a nice fit next to KP if you plan on playing KP at C. But then again who isn't a good fit next to him at this point...

Acquiring him isn't the concern.

The concern is if you want to pay him $16M+ next season and beyond.

There isn't that much money available in Free Agency next year from what I understand. I don't think Randle goes for 16+. I think more like 10-14 which is still steep, but I would consider it based on whether we move Lee or not...

I read the article. Excellent read, but unless you're moving KP to center I still don't trade Kanter, who is a center, for Randle who is a PF.
yeah man he has that lil protruding bird chest...

I never thought that I would say this, but we really, really miss Hardaway.

With Hardaway on the court, Knicks have two guys capable of going off offensively, and carrying the team. Without him, KP is getting too much attention from the defense, and we have too much trouble scoring.

There were certainly times that I thought Frank should've stayed in for his defense.

I didn't get to watch the game and just checked out the highlights. First, not surprised by the game Frank had. His shooting form is solid and I'm expecting him to become a knockdown shooter. His passing looked on point. The foul call on the 3-pointer was incredibly suspect. I can't stand having to watch the Balls on the sidelines. If that family isn't trying to become the next Kardashians...

as long as his defense doesn't rub off on Frank...Jack makes Calderon look like a solid defender...

I don't think that's true.

I think Jack makes Jose Calderon look like Jarret Jack

there actually pretty similar. Jack is a more creative passer, both are atrocious defenders. But at least calderon took 3's...jack takes that horrendous mid range shot.

Jack's been fine, but the gigs up. He needs to go to the bench and start to relinquish minutes to baker even but I don't mind if he plays 15 mins as a backup point to slow the game down and get us into our spots. But Baker and Frank's defense is game changing. Baker got up into clarkson a few times and cooled him off after a hot start.

you talking about today? because in calderon's prime he passed his ASS off. and with flair. and when jack was younger defense was never what he was known for, but atrocious seems a little harsh. calderon was always pretty horrible on defense.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

im talking about calderon's knicks career. Calderon at that point was just passing around the perimeter. He never broke down the defense. Jack is a little more creative but like I said they both suck on defense. And jack takes a ton of mid range shots which frustrates me.

I loved Frank's no-look pass to KOQ cutting down the lane.

I read the article. Excellent read, but unless you're moving KP to center I still don't trade Kanter, who is a center, for Randle who is a PF.

well yeah. i want to move KP to the 5. i don't think he will have any problems there.

I think moving KP to center is a recipe for disaster. I get the move in terms of style of play, but KP is not ready to bang with most centers yet. I think he's still 2-3 years from being able to do that.

I'm surprised so many aren't more surprised at Frank's shooting. I know I am. The highlights heading into the draft showed he had a nice shooting touch, but he was pretty awful that first month. I started to have my doubts.

I'm also surprised at the level of venom being displayed towards Lavar and the Balls. What the heck have they done to you?
