But if no changes are made, LaVine comes back and is at least better than Valentine/Holiday (prob likely) and we make no moves, hard to see this team finishing bottom 3.

1) weird to assume we make no moves
2) not really sure you can assume we're better than anyone other than the hawks even based on how we're playing during this stretch
3) even if we win 40% of our games from here on out, which we definitely won't, we'd win fewer than 30 games. that's still likely to be bottom five, which is not ideal, but again it's also something that's definitely not going to happen!

we're winning a couple of games now. the front office seems to know that keeping good veterans is not a good idea when we're tanking. i'm not too pressed about it

It’s easy to say trade him, but if this Niko is reality he’s worth more than what teams have seemed to give for him.

This seems to be the Niko you get when he’s given more responsibility dating back to his rookie season.

It’s a damn shame the Bulls didn’t roll with Jimmy, Niko, and guys like McDermott/Valentine last season.....

Niko didn't play well alongside Jimmy. None of those guys did. Mirotic in particular plays well inside of a fluid fast paced offense. During his tenure as The Guy, Butler didn't raise up those around him.

I'm starting to see now why Bobby punched Niko, holy crap at these quotes from him lol....

"There's no I in team but there's a Niko. Can you catch a rainbow and put it in your pocket? Can you tell a hurricane hey wait, hold on a moment? No! Such is Niko."

Then I hope we wind up with the gem of the draft anyway. The basketball gods should PUNISH teams who actively try to lose and reward the ones who go for it.

About 3 years too late.

Maybe the players actually are doing what he says. Unlike wave off jimmy.

I was thinking it. You had the balls to say it lol

So, during the summer people were blaming the front office for not getting enough value for Butler.

Now, the front office is to blame for getting too much value for Butler.

It's inherently flawed to trade for 3 roster players and then also announce at the press conference that your plan is to build through the draft.

I think it ends there. Who guards Giannis? Hoilday? Nwaba is probably our best bet, but he gives up 6 inches. Well, stranger things have happened, but that one would be a stretch.

You can't possibly blame the front office for young players playing hard and wanting to win games.

You can blame them for doing a rebuild backwards. You don't start by acquiring 3 players that are going to help you win, but aren't likely to be your franchise guy.

Now they are going to have to possibly make a dump trade, lose Niko for little value, to correct this from going 'on' track, if not more people.

Oh please. Right after the trade every one was saying the Bulls got trash back. Now you are saying Dunn and Markkanen are too good for the tank?

This board will be fun if LaVine comes back lighting it up.

And yet he just did.

I figured me calling this team stacked would show that I wasnt being serious. Im still hoping for Doncic. A best case scenario would be to win like 30-32 games with this team and still jump into the top 3. But not sure I want to take that risk. Would rather be 1/2 so the odds of them falling out of the top 3 goes down.

Sell Mirotic high, I love Lopez, but sell him high. See who the young keepers are going forward.

kulaz3000 wrote:I get that some fans are getting slightly nervous, but in all honesty, I'm actually more positive than ever because we're building equity beyond just trying to be the worst team in the league.

In my mind, we'll end up being one of the bottom 4 teams in the league when the season ends. Why? Because I feel extremely confident that multiple players will be traded by the trade deadline, with future assets being returned and not significant players as part of the deal.

This recent play has proved that we have actually young talent with lots of potential, and players who are considered veterans are playing really well and in essence are increasing their trade value enough that we don't need to simply dump these players for the sake of it, but we're now in a position where we could potentially get future assets, ideally future first round picks.

To me this is a team not putting their eggs all in one basket, trying to get the worst record in HOPES to get a top 2 pick with no assurance that we will, with nothing to really fall back on besides doing the same thing the following year. But if we can be smart with trades, whilst being patient and attempt to gain some additional assets on top of losing, it only allows something additional to fall back on when things like the lottery balls where we have no control over doesn't fall in our favour.

Tanking is easy, but tanking whilst also gaining additional assets is smart, we have an opportunity to do the latter.

Its not about total value, we need a dollar bill to launch a rebuild, not 3 quarters.

We could still have a dollar bill with the 3 quarters. It's at least good though that Dunn and Markkanen are flashing as much as they have this season.

Bobby's the real MVP, he punched Niko into superstardom.

Man I can't believe I'm typing this, but if Niko ends up staying with the team for the season and averaging 25/9, man that's like top of the league ****. Kevin Durant stat line.

Best record in a league featuring the heatles.....

Tragic

A team full of players a good percentage of fans considered trash and busts a week ago......

Stacked

Obviously there was some hyperbole there, but you're talking about w team they put together 7 years ago as the reason they're not tragic. I will give them their credit for putting g that 2010 team together. But since then they haven't been able to surround our "stars" with supporting talent.

They have two jobs this year. Fill the roster with young talent and cash in on any assets that aren't part of our future. Outside of Dunn, Markenen, Lavine and maybe Nwaba, everyone should go. RoLo and Niko need to go. They're on great contracts and can help competing teams.

We can't do the same crap our FO is famous for, and hold onto them hoping for a huge haul, then end up losing them for nothing or trading them out of desperation for crap (ie Cam Payne). If someone offers you a 1st for either of them, take it and run. The worst thing that can happen to this team is to win 20-30 games and end up with a mid to late lottery pick.

I don’t disagree with those two jobs they have to do...

But that’s based on what fans like you, I, and most here think. Their jobs are based on what their plan is and what ownership wants. As fans, we may as well enjoy the show. Sure rooting for losses can be fun, dreaming of the young phenom we’ll get with the top pick...but getting stressed, disappointed, angry over wins is pointless. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring....I’ll enjoy the win.

As for surrounding star with supporting casts..that ignores that “our stars” were supporting casts for our star.

I cant take Niko too seriously just yet. He has fresh legs and is on a roll to start. Just like Portis if you remember.

But I want to see after he settles down how he looks. I hope to still keep his value high

The whole "We have to maintain culture!" thing is absolute bull ****. It truly does not matter.

You see over and over that a teams culture transforms when they get that superstar player in place. Look at the 76ers.
