Lmmfao...I said broke man's Barkley!!! I believe you do take a chance on a guy like him at the 30th pick..let's face it, you aren't drafting a star at the 30th, not even a STARter...so what do you want to do..draft and stash? I'm tired of doing that. How many stashes have come back to us?

Ps Heard about you lil backyard BBQ you had the other day in the sac...couple things, if ur gonna borrow my tongs please ask...same goes for when you borrow Mac's thongs...:-|

Pps Tell ur neighbor he can't attack people with tiki torches when he is drunk next time. Those things hurt when lit and swung properly..yes even in the sac.

I take a flyer on a guy like the Bell kid. Someone with linth and athleticism who you can teach the game to. The ceiling on Colson is just too low for my tastes. You can sign an UDFA that'll be as promising.

Also, if macd leaves his thongs out on the veranda to dry, seems like they're fair game for the neighborhood. I light them to ward off mosquitoes.

Ewww...is Mac up yet? I know he likes his beauty sleep but I gots to get to work!

I mean, it's not moronic to suggest an under-athletic 6'5" college C/PF may not be drafted.

I don't really care about draft position or who is not drafted, I just care about identifying talent. Alot of guys went ahead of Millsap, Draymond, Haslem, Ben Wallace, Rodman. ability to identify talent out of 200-300 guys is all that matters

But that's the thing, the guys you mention didn't have the limitations Colson has physically and athletically.

There's a lot of guys who produce at the college level but lack the physical ability to really translate to the league successfully. That's all I'm saying.

Look at Trevor Booker. He was an excellent college player but, to make half a dent in the league, he had to totally transform his game and his body. And, after all that, all he is is a throw-in bench player. That's not a guy you bother drafting.

And Booker was not excellent. He was 15/7, and never did anything in the tournament.

I think you can find a lot of hidden talent late..Manu and Mark Price added to those names ATLbbq just mentioned..but as many hidden gems there are lumps of coal.

Is Colson one of them? Im not sure anybody knows...therein lies the problem, you can't measure heart.

I totally agree with this. Alot of people are still concern about height, standing reach, vert, but now in the new NBA, all i'm looking for is skill and mental toughness and work ethic.

Everybody in the draft gave up on Isiah Thomas, but with all of his flaws, he has that alpha dog mentality. and if i was scouting these guys, i would be looking for alpha dog heart, and not that fake alpha dog obnoxiousness

Pretty good rundown here ....

https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2748695-2018-nba-draft-big-board-top-50-players-1-month-into-cbb-season.amp.html?__twitter_impression=true

... I'm starting to like the Sexton guy. Considering our desperate need for perimeter scoring, he may be a viable option despite the shortcomings.

NIce find.

Oddly, Bleacher Report released a mock draft and a top 50 big board from the same author within a few days.

(And they aren't identical?)

But they are both useful for familiarizing us with prospects.

Potential 2018 No. 1 draft pick Luka Doncic is almost too good to be true

The legend of Luka Doncic, which was already larger than life, somehow grew on Thursday night.

The Slovenian 18-year-old, known to many in Europe simply as “Wonder Boy,” collected 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds in a 26-minute stretch off the bench that you might call workmanlike if it weren’t so damn amazing. Among the highlights were a full-court shot and an ankle-breaking assist that could begin and end anyone’s career reel, and yet we’re still seven months from his NBA Draft.

That isn’t some chump Doncic just put on skates, either. That’s Victor Claver, a former first-round pick by the Portland Trail Blazers who has won three EuroBasket titles and two Olympic medals with the Spanish national team. He’s 29 years old, and Doncic made him look like a 43-year-old.

16/7/6? If this kid avg those numbers for his Hawks career, I'd be ecstatic.

IDK man. Those numbers are reserved for the caliber of Prince I'd reckon. Smoove avg 15.5/8/3 in Atlanta.

A top pick in a very good draft I'd want elite level production, especially under the tutelage of Bud. He's listed at 6-8, 230, 18 yo. Probably a guy that could bully his man like Carmelo as his body matures. If he maintains a 220ish level, I can see him display more more athleticism. He may become too big and slow to guard the perimeter oriented players. I'd stick him at the 3, guarding the lesser of 2s and 3s on offense.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
