This album rules.

I have thoughts and I'm trying to work my way through them. But maybe more than anything else is the spectrum. I can't believe the bands that are getting lumped together.

Either this list is poop or I'm old and pretentious. Assuming a combination of all three.

Good show as always, but the entire upper deck and club level was closed (to be fair, they had more floor/GA attendance than most concerts would due to nature of their stage). Heard this was the case at a lot of other shows on this tour. Saw them 3 years ago at a nearly packed arena.

They fired their manager last week. I’m wondering if the firing is because they wanted to go MORE in this direction or they felt steered the wrong way. I didn’t like the new album and wonder how much that played into the trash attendance. Apparently the marketing for the album was also not great.

Their shows went down hill after Reflector. Having the last two albums be the worst of your library is always going to be problematic for attendance; and if we are being fair, before those albums they were playing smaller venues. I have seen them 4-5 times and the last was by far the A) worst show B) biggest venue C) most expensive. I saw them at UIC (~4000) with The National opening for them from about 12 feet away and is probably the my favorite concert experience to date.

The fact that I didn't even know they were coming through is probably a really really bad sign for them.

Agree. I've also seen them 4 times now and the smaller shows were better, with the near sold out arena Reflektor show being good.

I didn't like Reflektor as much as their previous stuff but it was fine. I didn't like the direction but figured they'd get back to their wheelhouse. Everything Now was mostly trash and announced that they were not going back to what they did well.

I think I got the tix right before the album came out and kinda regretted it after the album came out. I'd still pay full face value to see Power Out, Sprawl II, or Rebellion live and in concert, but other than the title track of Everything Now, they were wasting 5 other songs I wanted to see with their **** attempt at disco playing the new songs.

This is the big problem with the list. You fall down a rabbit hole of "Well if X made it how the hell is Y not on there?" I mean, how can you make a top 50 pop punk bands list and leave out Thrice, Strung Out, No Use for a Name, Glassjaw, Mineral, Jack's Mannequin, The Bronx, The Movielife, Sugarcult, The All-American Rejects, Avenged Sevenfold, Avril Lavigne, Goldfinger, Midtown, Transplants, Gob, Brand New, My Chemical Romance, Finch, Damone, Dead Kennedys, Saosin, Story of the Year, The Donnas, Good Riddance, Senses Fail, Matchbook Romance, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Thursday, Say Anything, Something Corporate, Straylight Run, Taking Back Sunday, Unwritten Law, The Used, and The Vandals?

You forgot The f-ups, Sr-71, Flyleaf, and Boxcar Racer. I also question why Jimmy Eat World, Hawthorne heights and bowling for soup weren't included in the original list.

I've been getting really into this Japanese producer named Harumoi Hosono, he's got all kinds of good stuff. This is a pretty great dance song and music video from one of his bands, Yellow Magic Orchestra. You probably heard it on Soul Train.

I don't mean to inundate the board with a bump of videos of some guy but there's a few others in the spoiler if you want to treat yourself to one of Japan's musical treasures.
Spoiler:
His sound is all over the place, he's been performing/producing for about 40 years. He did this with a folk group called Happy End, you might recognize it from Lost in Translation.

That's one of my personal favorites, classic 60s folk rock groove.

And this might be his most famous/catchy song.

The new Chris Stapleton album is pretty good and not too country. Dude is a hell of a songwriter.

Seeing Melodrama near the top of most year-end lists and I've wondered for a while if any song off of it is better than the top seven songs on Pure Heroine (no. the answer is no.)?
