Re: BREAKING: FCC votes in favor of Net Neutrality repeal
What’s basically going to happen is big companies are going to get taxed to hell by the internet providers and they will simply pass that tax to the consumer.
Netflix is what, $10 a month?
It will go to $20 or $30.
Amazon got a bill coming too. Along with YouTube and Facebook and Instagram.
You see, those big companies were being charged like the little ones from what I’m gathering. Well that’s not fair IMO. They need to pay for all that damn bandwidth and data their platform uses.
This isn’t even a consumer type of fight. This is internet providers telling big ass companies that built BILLIONS off of cheap web prices that they need to pony up if they wish to use their networks. Hubby was telling me these ISP’s spend billions building these networks up. Then I heard it again on a video along with ISP’s getting ready to go 5G.
Yep. Netflix, Google, Facebook, Amazon and so on need to pay up. They won’t though.
Netflix and chill is about to be expensive.
Oh Well. Cable about to make a comeback.

unfortunately this is not true for instance in Atlanta you may have three options but 20 miles outside of the city and you have one option or dial up.
Bandwidth and size limits are not something that should be or can be enforced. As long as what you are doing is legal.
I will give an example . I had a 300 gig limit when i first moved from comcast. that was raised to 1 tb limit I am rarely close to that but lets say for work and streaming, gaming I hit 4 to 500 gigs per month. Now they can raise the rates they charge me when there is no measurable charge. They were making money when I was not near the limit so they can drop the limit and charge by usage which is wrong where is my right as a consumer for the rest of the bandwidth I was charged for?
Plus add in the fact they can limit my content. So xfinity does not want me to watch a competitor shows via Hulu they can block that?
There is no addition work needed to allow to view content, no applicable work either. No firewalls or rules to be made. As matter of fact for them to change my viewing they will be working harder to block content.
MY reply is simple I may be stuck with comcast but we should not be charged for a limit in service. I would understand if this service was like food or gas but it isn't. There is no revolving cost once the backbone is set up, they are not planting crops or drilling for bandwidth, the cost is realtivley fixed.
No, they have to pay people to run those servers that provide more bandwidth.
Many companies have roll over plans as well. Look at many phone companies. I think we are headed there. Not the end of the world.
No Greenie you miss my point I already pay for my bandwidth and usage at 1 tb a month. Period that is flat fee I am paying now with this being repealed, they can segment my bill and charge me more for services I am already receiving.
Again yes they have people running the servers I work with allot of those people. I am not saying they deserve to starve but to have the ability to double my bill (as an example)and limit my access for a service I already receive how is that right?
And then saying I have choices is also incorrect I have 2 choices that's it 2, not 3 or 4 so I can't even price shop, but that is better then most people. I am only 20 miles outside of the city in Atalanta as yuo get further out your choices dwindle even more

People can’t perform simple math. Read a map(a real one). Tell time from a clock. Fill out simple paperwork. Address an actual letter. Write a check. So many simple things are gone.
We are getting dumber.
I mean does your sister know to wipe her ass after she shts ? Shes not at the point where she literally cant survive without technology right ? I'm not saying I totally disagree with you. I think it is more than I disagree with the examples that you provided. To me, a clock is a human invention. A check is a human invention. I don't agree that just because you don't know how to use one human invention because you learned another one that that make you dumb. Would you say that someone that knows how to use an abacus is smarter than someone that uses a digital calculator ? Or am I dumber because I only know how to use a faucet and not know how to pump water out of a well ? I think my point is I think we are simply replacing one technology with another technology.
Really dude?
You don’t get it, but it’s OK. People will be forced to do some **** like it used to be done...a whole damn 2 years ago.
Yes, i still dont get it. Im still not sure what you meant by force to do sht like it used to be? You keep saying people dont how to do some thing but all the examples you provided are because there are new ways to something. We dont write fking checks any more because there are electronic ways to send and receive money now. In 10 or 20 years, checks may not even exist anymore. Is your sister still dumb just because she doesnt know how to use some thing thats no longer in existence?
Again, im not saying im entirely disagreeing with everything you said, just that i disagree with the examples you provided. The examples about the checks and letters just sound silly to me. I have been working for 15 years now and l never had to write a format letter (as in hard copy). I dont know why that would make me dumb just because i dont know something that the world is using less and less of. If your sister is dumb because she doesnt know how to read a clock then can i also say that most people are also dumb if they cant tell time from reading the sun?
All the examples you provided are just examples of us replacing one techology with another (check to ach for example). It is like saying people are dumb because they dont know how to use a floppy disk.

After rereading what you said, are trying to say that technology is making every task in our life so much easier that our brain is not getting the mental work out that it needs?

My feelings become numb. Too much bull eating up bandwidth to begin with. Why should I as a company have to pay for that type of ****? I try to look at things from both perspectives. Yeah companies need more bandwidth capabilities but people need to stop being stupid with current bandwidth too.
This last part is just silly. Technology is always about pushing forward, coming up with the capability then thinking about how to use it. Do I really need 100gb to save my porn collection in my computer ? No, probably not. But it is because of this stupid need from the consumers that helped our technological advances. No body knew we needed smartphones 15 years ago, but after the smartphones came out we ended up coming up with so many ways to use it.
People are really becoming too technology dependent. Maybe it’s time to pick up a newspaper again or have the kids go outside amd play. Turn on your tv or listen to the radio again.
We will survive.
This actually is giving me plenty of business ideas...
Yikes. This is your solution? don't use the internet?
Hey if you don't want to get in to accidents, don't drive
The internet is more and more becoming an essential commodity. It doesn't make sense to say "just don't use it"

You pay for that commodity. So pay for it.
I pay for faster internet now. Nothing is changing except price(potentially) from BOTH the ISP’s and different services.
Now either you’re willing to pay or you’re not. Just like there’s people with cars and people who use public transportation. There is a price for every convenient commodity and that’s exactly what the internet is.
People are literally bitching about THE POSSIBILITY of waiting for **** to load or things buffering. Give me a damn break. You don’t wanna wait? Pay.

1) did you not hear people say that in certain places because of regulations they only have one option for internet provider? I dont mind a free market approach if it is truly a free market. The problem is in many places, there are regulations that prevent new companies from entering the market. 2) the problem with speed is that im already paying 100mbps but now time warner can slow that to 10mbps when im streaming netflix. They are likely to do that because 1- netflix does use alot of bandwidth and 2-netflix is a COMPETITOR. Most important of all, ISPs can even BLOCK competitors services entirely. This is not just POSSIBILITY. Verizon actually tried to Block alot of google services, like the use of google wallet.

wow Greenie that is not right because you did not look at my address. 10 may come up but how many service where I live. And no I am not giving you my address. because three are 4 that service my neighborhood and two that deliver to my address. So much for competition. Unless I want to go wireless with a satellite system then it grows by two more. Now lets look at something over 50 mbs then there is two because fiber is not in my area yet.
So that competition that is being raved about is not there and with this repeal I don't think it will ever develop.

before net neutrality we were being charged more for less but according for you that is fine. Net neutrality proved the service can provided for a reasonable price with out limiting the content now they have been giving a legal way to charge more and provide less that is not an open market.
