That's the debate, the problem is we're never going to find out which side is right because the Packers as an organization evidently don't recognize this issue here. It's like everyone involved with the Packers is oblivious to how bad our defense has been the past 6 years. I know Herb Kohl era level incompetence when I see it. With the Packers you can be really bad at your job and still get a lifetime contract it appears.

This Capers' scheme vs Ted's talent thing should have been figured out a long long time ago. Maybe they'll have it out figured out by the time Aaron Rodgers is 40.

Except I think it's been proven with the defensive players who have left here, and have had success elsewhere like Hayward and Hyde. I definitely think it's much more of a scheme issue than a talent issue.

I think that there is a very good chance that Capers is fired after this season anyways. The evidence is certainly stacking against him. The Lions game this season was particularly damning.

I doubt he gets fired, but I wouldn't be surprised he retires or walks away to spend more time with his family or whatever excuse he wants to give.

No doubt there's a lot of bums on that list and TT is to blame for drafting said bums. But guys like Hawk and Tramon, especially, were on the downside of their careers when they left here and Bishop basically was with his injuries.

No matter what happens the rest of the season and how far it goes, Capers has to go in the offseason. You can't keep trotting out the same scheme year in and year out and expecting different results when it's been one of the worst in the league the last handful of years.

This Defense got their asses handed to them for 3 quarters, BY THE WINLESS BROWNS. A 1-28 TEAM for cripe sakes!!!

Capers should not have a job with the Packers in 2018.

I'm rooting for the Packers to sneak in and who knows what happens with Aaron Rodgers. But I know we will get run over like we did against Falcons or in the old days the Rams where Favre threw 5 picks (not saying Rodgers will throw 5 picks but do you remember the futility of that game?).

It's going to be an ugly playoffs at some point, don't know when, wild card, divisional, or NFCC. But this defense is garbage. There is some individual talent, but overall the defense is garbage and they will get wiped out.

Someone told me this may have been the costliest W in 2 decades. A loss to the Browns would have brought out the pitchforks, even people who somewhat support the FO, were ready to jump sides in a Browns loss. The season is lost, Rodgers gets shut down, the pitchforks come out. People DEMAND changes, Murphy can't look like a clown with his hands in his pockets, the media goes ape ****. We finish the season with Hundley going 0-3 next three games and getting horribly embarrassed against the Panthers, and a bad loss to the Queens which will make fans blood boil and frothing at the mouth by the end of the season. It would have been the match that lit the fire. And a MONTH long of irate fans and media demanding change and MM/TT taking on heat like never on their entire careers.

All that got averted after browns qb goes full on TJ Rubley mode and we somehow walked away in OT with a W. Now there is excitement, momentum, Hundley "Kept us alive", MM did a good job of getting the guys to play hard through adversity while Rodgers was out, everything is forgiven. Rodgers can run the table and we are a Super Bowl caliber team again. Why change, when we got so close to the playoffs? We are almost there, just need a couple pieces on D, rinse and repeat for next 5 years.

I see both sides on this one, and I struggle back and forth on each side. At the end of the day I love watching Rodgers lead this team to victory and he gives you a chance every game. I naturally root for Ws. But I'm haunted by the thought of a flawed team never giving Rodgers enough support to win another Superbowl.

The most confusing thing for me has been this new narrative I've been hearing around, praising Hundley's stint as the QB - that he actually did a "great job" keeping the Packers in the playoff hunt. I've heard this from fans and professional analysts alike - that his QB play somehow saved the Packers season. Huh? Am I taking crazy pills? I'm not quite sure what games these people were watching (if they were even watching, because....why would they be?), but Hundley was bad. Like, REAL bad. A few last-second, squeaked-out victories against the Bears, Bucs, and Browns does not hide this fact.

I really think the win over the Browns was "costly" only in some fans' eyes - the fans that wanted some sort of validation from losing to the worst team in the league. Because THAT would "lead to changes." But the sad truth is: it wouldn't have mattered. It's not like this defense has only been bad for a few games, or a whole season, or even two seasons......it's been bad for MANY YEARS! You think the Packers decision makers aren't aware of this? Of course they are, yet nothing has changed. The defense has been embarrassed many times over the past 7 years, what makes anyone think that losing to the Browns would magically be the straw that breaks the camel's back?

Valid point, but for the most part packer faithful is just that. Faithful. But the loyalist of loyal MM/TT fans were ready to turn on him had that lost the browns game. Just my estimation from the feelings I gathered on social media.

It would be too embarrassing a loss to make excuses for. You can complain about losing to caliber teams without Rodgers, but losing to the browns isn't valid. The excuses just don't work.

It's true, maybe nothing still happens, but you'd have some serious boo birds in packer land and a lot of pissed off fans. It might have been the pressure the team needs.

The FO has never had fan pressure before like it would have had with that loss.

It didn't happen so it's a moot point now.
