This is in a nutshell what I meant with my earlier quote.
Teams that play this way will never beat a good team in a seven game playoff series so I'm really not concerned with the loss.At this point in the season our best scorer is one game back and only playing a few minutes.
Our 2nd best scorer has to get used to scoring alongside our best scorer again but its only been one game. Our third best scorer has only been back a handful of games.
Our 4th and 5th best scorers are 37 and 40 years old respectfully.
We have a bunch of nice role players who have not been put in enough positions to be volume scorers yet. Its nice when they score but its not a surprise when they all of a sudden need to score in a high volume to keep up with teams like Houston or GSW its not going to happen.
Like I keep saying, In April and May if we are healthy this will be a much different type of game.
I agree wholeheartedly with the first bold part. I've been winding about explaining what you've said succinctly - a Pringles team will never win it all because he somehow still doesn't respect the other side of the ball, still stubbornly thinks his team can simply outshoot an opponent. Yet after the first Q, we were dead even with them in scoring despite all the team personnel factors you've outlined.
I really like that our younger guys keep showing additional aspects to their game. Bertans and Forbes aren't just shooters, but passers and defenders; Paul isn't just a solid defender, but a good shooter; Lauvergne isn't just a bruising presence, but has good passing vision and good touch around the basket. And when Murray starts putting it all together, he's going to be a Swiss-army knife for us, helpful and deadly in a variety of ways. So, yes, definitely, they need seasoning to be more consistent, but come April, all these minutes leading up to the post-season will show dividends.
As to the second bold part, in the back of my mind I hope LMA has no problem accepting that he is, in fact, our #2 option. Better to consider him #1 in his role, and Kawhi #1 in his, and sometimes the one or the other or both will have to lead the way. Luckily we have lots of time to get the fit right. When we do, I love the options we have at each position that strengthen the team as a whole.
