So since the NFL won't get rid of Thursday night football heres the easiest way to make sure teams get the rest they need.
Every week for eight weeks four teams get their bye weeks. After their bye week we get two games every thursday. Now you got 16 thursday games still and theoretically twice the viewers each week so you dont lose the ad revenue from the games early and end of season.

Here’s a far more simple and practical solution. Extend the season to 18 weeks and give each team two byes. Teams can only play on Thursday following a Bye. One extra week of football, less crowded 1 pm time slots, more rest for players, more money. Nobody loses in this situation.
