Until Ted gets replaced so better talent gets on the defense and a new coordinator is in place to run the defense, Aaron Rodgers will continue seeing his greatness wasted by below average to bad defenses.

The offense also badly needs some fresh blood with speed at receiver and a young tight end. I'd mention the OL, but pretty much every team needs lineman

That "worse" defense forced 38 Turnovers that year. That Defense at least had some playmakers

Plus the Packers offense right now isn't even remotely close to the talent level we had in 2011. 2011 James Jones was our 5th best pass catcher in 2011, put 2011 James Jones on this current team and he's our best WR.

Yea, that offense was loaded. Had Jordy and Jennings in their prime, a still useful Donald Driver, a young James Jones, and Finely at TE.

Now we have Jordy nearing his end, a solid not great Cobb, and Adams who is good, but garbage at TE. Like the two young backs though.

That 15-1 offense was a nightmare for defensive coordinators, especially when they spread out defenses and went empty.

You left out rookie Randall Cobb.

Devante Adams is by far our best pass catcher right now and it's not even sort of close. I like Adams, I think he is one of the 5 or 6 good players on the Packers roster, but put him on that 2011 team and he's probably our 4th or 5th best weapon in the passing game. Just goes to show how far our offense has fallen off.

I agree, it is really odd and it has been like that for Rodgers since 2008. You would think being such a great player, just by law of averages he would have a better record in close games. Think about it, Hundely's NFL career is 8 games and he has more OT wins than Rodgers. Like you said Rodgers hasn't had much control over most of them and the few times he has had to the opportunity to be clutch, he has been for the most part. It's weird.

Davante has a right to be mad. Still think that Davis is a pretty stand-up guy but that blind-side hit was the definition of dirty. Doesn't matter if you feel bad about it, that's suspension worthy.

Obviously the ref saw the play since he threw the flag and if he saw it why the hell wasn't there an ejection. It was egregious.

Reputation matters. If that was Vontaze Burfict he would have been thrown out instantly.

Yeah that is a shame. Should be pretty cut and dry, you do something egregious, excessively violent, automatic ejection.

Davis has a history with illegal hits. He's been fined over $50K just this year for them.

I really think Capers is going to be let go. Everyone knows how loyal MM is, but he canned his whole defensive staff the last time we missed the playoffs in 2008. The defense this year (and really the last several) is worse than the defense we had that year too. You can't keep trotting out the same defense year in and year out and expect different results.

If Capers is let go, this year is strongly worth it IMO. I'll take not making the playoffs if it means a Capers firing/forced retirement. Get him out, get Fangio/Mora/Ryan/Lewis. I guarantee the defense is much better next year with just a new scheme & coordinator alone.

This is also the same guy who ended Terrence Murphy's career on a helmet to helmet hit when the Packers played the Panthers back in 2005. Davis has always been a dirty player.

Capers could easily "retire" so MM doesn't have to "fire" him. If we promote Moss or Whitt to DC it won't change anything. But I have a feeling that's what will happen. Promote one guy and be done with it. I want a new regime on defense. A new DC from outside the organization. He should be allowed to bring in his own staff. If he wants to retain some guys, ok, but it should be his decision. Take a look at DC's who will be available when the HC is fired. And look for top notch assistants on other teams.

Some guys on the radio were clambering for Leonard. Some for Aranda. I think it's highly unlikely we'd go the college route. I do think Leonard will be an NFL DC one day if he wants it.

Yeah, my problem with Whitt or Moss, they are the guys that are suppose to coaching up these guys and more specifically, we have now seen Peppers, Hyde and freaking Casey Hayward look substantially better once they left. That isn't a vote of confidence.

Nothing will really change unless McCarthy and Thompson get fired too. Firing Capers might make the defense a little bit better, but not enough to make any significant difference overall IMO. People who think a new coordinator is going to come in and make this current group of players a respectable NFL defense are homers. I've never seen 2 starting safeties on an NFL defense more petrified of contact than Ha Ha and Burnett, is that going to change with a new coordinator? I doubt it.

As long as TT is here your talent on defense will always be **** and as long as you have MM you're always going to get Fat Mac'd when it matters.

If somebody asked me to put in a nutshell what is wrong with the Packer's front office, I would tell them, Dom Capers still having a job going into this season. Look no further than that, that tells you all that you need know about the Packer's front office.

It's not so much that the Packer's defense has been bad for years, it's that the Packer's seem oblivious to that fact from a coaching standpoint. That and the fact no team has invested more into trying to improve a defense over the past 6 years via the draft than the Packers, and the defense is still hilariously bad.

Davante going at Davis on Twitter. Davis apologized, TD's wife defended him, Zach Brown and Shaun Smith telling Davante to stop whining, etc etc.

Davante has every right to be upset. He's the victim of the two of the worst unnecessary hits I've seen this season. He also knows first hand from Sam Shields what multiple concussions can do to a career.

He also won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Not saying it's right, but no one views him as this consistent cheap-shot artist or head-hunter, even if he has been a repeat offender.
