Reading this makes me feel gross and sad. He is allowed to have his feelings. This is the second time this season it's happened to him. If you're anyone else, don't comment. You aren't him.

That's the thing about social media. Everyone can comment on everyone else. Maybe we start worrying about our own actions and not everyone else's words?

Reputation matters. If that was Vontaze Burfict he would have been thrown out instantly.

Davis has a history with illegal hits. He's been fined over $50K just this year for them.

He also won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. Not saying it's right, but no one views him as this consistent cheap-shot artist or head-hunter, even if he has been a repeat offender.

I could go give $500 to charity right now and then smash someone across the leg with a baseball bat. Just because I gave to charity doesn't mean that whoever I smack with a baseball bat and the cops are going to give a ****, especially if I have a history of smashing people across the legs with a baseball bat.

He is allowed to have feelings, but this is the problem with football's faux machismo culture. You have some football bros acting like everything can be solved by "BEING A MAN!" It's a pathetic perspective that forces too many players to manage their pain and anger in unhealthy ways - using opioids, alcohol, other drugs - let alone those who turn to violence. You have players who struggle with depression and try to hide it, because of morons like Smith and Brown, and end up pumping a shotgun into their chest, instead of trying to seek treatment.

Nothing will really change unless McCarthy and Thompson get fired too. Firing Capers might make the defense a little bit better, but not enough to make any significant difference overall IMO. People who think a new coordinator is going to come in and make this current group of players a respectable NFL defense are homers. I've never seen 2 starting safeties on an NFL defense more petrified of contact than Ha Ha and Burnett, is that going to change with a new coordinator? I doubt it.

So many are just saying, we gotta get rid of Capers, as if he's been bungling really talented defensive rosters for years and a thus hire a new coordinator, bam problem solved and a good defense will result.

Capers no doubt should have been canned years ago, especially after that debacle in SF where Capers and the defense looked like they never knew a zone read existed.

That said, Ted Thompson has been mostly bad at drafting defense since the title season, even as he's invested so many 1st-4th round picks on that side of the ball. Capers has been turning Ted's below average talent into below average to terrible production for about six years now.

I'm going to be very discouraged if Ted is back because then it's likely very little change will happen given he runs everything and playing it safe/comfortable is how he rolls.

The missed picks on defense are also hurting the offense now. We've spent so many high picks on defense that we've basically completely ignored offense with these high picks and now Jordy and Cobb are declining so now we don't even have a great offense to try to cover for our terrible defense.

"Embarrassing" is an understatement. This is without a doubt the absolute lowest point in decades, as far as this team's defense is concerned. What a f*cking joke! Clay literally told the rest of the defense the EXACT play that was coming, and they still inexplicably left it wide open! Seriously, what is going on out there?!?!

It really says something - how cool and nonchalant Cam was when Clay called the play. His first reaction wasn't to hesitate, panic, or call an audible. No, his first reaction was to mock them, laugh, and talk a little sh*t before throwing a TD on that exact play. It was a complete disrespect for the Packers defense. You have to wonder, if we could only hear the banter between players every game, just how many other times this defense has been completely clowned in similar fashion by opponents. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this wasn't the first time, lol.

Another exhibit for why blame for our defensive woes should be primarily on Capers, not TT.

When you have a defense marked by breakdowns and miscommunication, that's a problem with coordination, that is, the defensive coordinator's main job. Our defense is bad because there are so many gaps, not because the players are too slow or not strong enough or can't jump higher. Joe Thomas has enough speed and agility to go cover the RB on that wheel route well enough at least to make the QB-RB really earn a completion, and Clay Matthews right next to him literally tells the team to defend the wheel route, ... and there's Joe Thomas either playing spy or just confused. If he's playing spy, someone else is confused. This is Week 15, and Joe Thomas isn't some guy they just signed, he has been in this defense for four years.

This needs to be circulated over and over until there is outrage from the most casual of fans. That's the only option left I see to perpetuate change in this organization. Because clearly the last 5 years have changed nothing. Crazy.

I don't know if I have ever seen a greater example of someone saying one thing and then doing another than I have with the NFL as whole when it comes to the CTE and concussions thing.

Yeah, it honestly feels like we're playing 10 on 11 when we're on defense the majority of the time. That's probably the best way to describe our deficiencies and coordinating.
