Lol you know better than to post any thread regarding something positive about Kobe on realgm.

Advanced stats about to be shoved down your throat about how 'not' great Kobe is despite winning at the highest level 5 times and twice as the best player on the team.

Context is required for stuff like this though :)

Using rings as one criterion when evaluating a player is fine, but the use of a team achievement as the primary metric for evaluating an individual player is inherently flawed.

Phil got a pic of his 11 rings as his twitter profile pic

The greatest would have to have "describes self".

Getting Will Ferrell to play Phil Jackson if they ever do a biopic.

Because he is the only legitimate player that challenge Jordan and Kareem and everybody deep down knows it--so throwing shade at him is a attempt at creating a buffer zone to keep those twos legacies safe from any debate.

People gas up Kobe knowing full well he is not in that conversation and its not going to really impact anything besides getting lolz

Not true. Only Laker homers like Lisa Leslie or Phil Jackson would view it that way. Look at what Julius Erving or Oscar Robertson say about him.

It has always been a rather silly way to fine tune assessments of greatness. There's a broad point to be made, but flip Kobe onto TMac's teams, and TMac (assuming health (onto Kobe's teams. How many titles does each guy win? Shaq blows out his knee in 2000, Kobe doesn't win that title -- his fault? Etc.

Title winning is tremendously effected by situation, franchises, teammates, coaches etc.
