Beverley out for the season after undergoing microfracture surgery.

Obviously I wish the best for Bev and hope he can stay healthy in the future, but I'd be lying if I said the injury doesn't make the Chris Paul trade look even better in hindsight.

At the same time, Beverley calling out the Clippers' starters before his injury makes me miss his mentality and toughness even more.

I don't want to give credit for terrible injuries that aren't predictable at all. But along those lines: Maybe it was the team and Harden making Dekker look good because he's barley getting minutes despite all the injuries to the Clippers. Thornwell and Wesley Johnson both ahead in the rotation

Hey everyone, just thought I'd let y'all know about this guy if you don't already. He creates Twitter moments breaking down game film of the Rockets all the time, and they are really good. Easily the best film breakdowns you'll see from a Rockets follower

I've had people, justifiably, point out over the years that I rely too heavily on WP48 to judge players.
It's worth noting that when guys have bad WP48s, though, particularly with proportional regard to their contracts, they're either benched, trade bait, or gone, quick, on Morey teams.

https://www.boxscoregeeks.com/teams/hou?direction=desc&sort=per48_wins_produced
https://www.boxscoregeeks.com/teams/hou/2016?direction=desc&sort=per48_wins_produced
^ Note that everyone from Dekker to Brewer is either gone, or was heavily shopped in the offseason.

This trend goes back for years.

Also, Houston has #1 (Capela), #6 (Paul), and #23 (Harden), #40 (Black), #62 (Nene), #73 (Ariza), #80 (PJ) in WP48, with Paul being the only non-center in the top-9, and 10 being a PF.
This season is gonna be good.

Raise your hand if you saw the Rockets being first in net rating through 20 games. Insane. 1st in offense seemed like a long shot, but doable, 6th in defensive rating is the real shocker though. Let's see if it holds.

Apparently, even now we're currently .2 behind GSW in point differential. That's NUTS.

Impressive start to the season for Houston. Legit contender.

We're taking an early look at the NBA Awards, with Sixth Man first up. Eric Gordon won last year, is he the favourite to go back2back? We've looked at the history and analytics on why previous winners have won, and name the contenders for this season.

Article is here: https://thefourpointplay.blog/2017/12/01/early-nba-awards-sixth-man-of-the-year/

Bonus: Who is the best 7th man in the NBA? Must be the player who has played the 7th most or fewer minutes per game from a team.

How would y'all feel about a Nene, Ryan Anderson, P.J. Tucker, and a 2018 1st (top 20 protected) for Kevin Love and Iman Shumpert?

Don't know why either team would do that.
We lose all depth at PF/C and potentially mess with our chemistry on both offense AND defense, and we lose our two burliest guys to handle the C's that Capela can't and one of our best defenders.

Cleveland gives up more than they get back, because Love is hands down the best player, although they get back a bit more talent overall across 3 players.

No idea how it impacts cap and salaries off the top of my head, but I don't think it makes either team better.

Cavs wouldn't do that. No way. Neither will Rockets.

I would hate that trade if it happened.

Rockets now have the highest offensive rating of all time by a half a point. That's a pretty huge margin. Same difference between the previous best and the ninth best offense.

We saw Portland guard the 3 points line and let Harden/CP3 go one on one. Didn't work because Portland don't have good one on one defender.
We saw San Antonio give us mid-range. CP3 is there to solve the problem.
We saw Utah double team Harden/CP3 early so they have to give up the ball and rely on the others to beat them. They almost succeed last night.
I wonder what else team is going to try to throw at us.

If only Ryno is consistent enough on scoring

I’m not super familiar with ORtg, but what about those 1980’s nuggets that scored 130 a game or whatever?

They played a ton of possessions per game back then, as the pace was insane, so naturally they had higher ppg totals. O_rating is how many points you score per possession. The highest of those Denver teams is 20th on the all time list (82).

Chris Paul should be in the all star game now that John Wall is out 2 months. Chris Paul and Paul George were the 2 biggest Snubs and Paul George already got Demarcus Cousins spot. Now Chris Paul is likely to get Wall's spot on Lebron's team.
