If Lakers strike out in free agency i could see them taking on his expiring contract if a minor asset was attached.

I like Miami trading their long term crap contracts for Melo as an option. Maybe they hold out hope for Lebron and Wade returning for Banana Boat. OKC should do Melo for JJ and Olynyk if they get the chance

JJ's contract is bad only if he gets injured (something I'm afraid of), but Olynyk's is solid for his contribution. He's played well for us.

Almost everyone on the Heat board hated my suggestion to trade for Melo. I didn't suggest it because it was a good idea. I just think Pat would do it. He has a lot of faith in that generation.

I'm 100% with you that it's not the best idea, but totally something Riley would do.

JJ/Ellington/Hammons for Melo is my version of the Melo to Miami trade. This saves OKC a little more in tax payments this year and gets them more shooting.

I'm be expecting Riley to make a follow-up trade involving Whiteside, so I'm less inclined to include Olynyk in a Melo deal.

Markieff Morris, Ian Mahinmi, and a lottery protected first for Melo.

No good players are going to look to team up with Melo until he agrees to come of the bench and is paid accordingly.

I continue to have doubts about him being able to make the required transition in mindset to become a spark off the bench.

In the past, winning a ring wasn't the highest priority for him and his style of play will need to change to fit with the teams best positioned to be contenders.

Well for Portland, I could see it if we were able to dump our negative contracts say Turner and Meyers maybe adding a protected pick, but I doubt OKC would do that. It’s not like we’re doing anything this year, and while I assume Melo will opt in, at least it would cut a year off.

Assistant for life Ron Adams, as others said. OKC had him at one point too. He's a defensive genius.

Done. Best solution to OKC is fire Donovan and hire Ron Adams. Problem solved. Let's do the middle east now. This stuff is easy!

There was barely a market for Melo from New York and now he's poisoned OKC so that market must be smaller. I just don't see a deal.
