He's got a few million in the bank lol. In all reality because hes done the job he has promoting himself, his sons and BBB i dont doubt his ability to get a company or group of rappers or something to give him money to be a part of this. Technically he does not need to put up any of his own money to do something like this the way he has positioned himself. Im sure many would disagree.
This is going to catch the eye of many players who need $$$ now and cant wait another year and many simply dont want to pretend to goto school just because of some dumb rule requiring the NCAA get these kids for a year to make money off them.
I would want my kid to goto school but this is more a thumb in the eye of the NCAA than anything. But also providing kids who maybe made some mistakes and college is not even an option for them.
I too hope he is successful and shuts up his haterz.

This business sinks before it begins if the NBA gets rid of the one and done rule and allows high schoolers into the NBA or the G-League. Silver is apparently already discussing it.
The NBA and NCAA won't let anyone compete into their market share.

And if that happens, LaVar shuts down his league and spearheaded change and accomplishes his goal either way. Win, win.

He is going to need a lot more than a few million to create a successful league.

Not necessarily.
First that rule hasnt passed but even if it did, I think there are a lot of kids that would bypass the NCAA and start earning cash while focusing 100% on basketball if they had a chance especially if they can get paid for it. Do you know how many aspiring kids have broken family that would love to get at least $5,000 per month by playing basketball? We are not talking about the 5 star players here.
That said, it has to be done right and with the right support and practice facility. I know few kids already passed on NCAA and went abroad but that is too stressful and far away while having a secondary league here would open up opportunities to be closer to home. earn cash and still pursuing NBA career, if possible. This could turn into a 3rd tier league, if they play it right.
NBA
G-League
BBB League
If money was not an issue for me, I would look into it and see what is possible. If this thing starts, it should start small with 4 teams in one coast, west coast. Or, if LaVar can get a big money backer, then really go for the 80 members but that might that many interested candidates might be too hard to find right off the bat.

If this works out, the narrative on Lavar is going to change so fast.

Re: LaVar is gonna provide an alternative to being a slave to the NCAA
I am not a fan of the NCAA esp as it relates to college football. But its not as bad concerning college basketball. The one and done rule sucks, dont get me wrong, but kids only have to go for 1 year and there are benefits that come with college athletics. If high school basketball players want to make money right away, they have opportunities overseas as well.
A league with one and done-rs and other college age guys who arent good enough for the NBA are going to have a tough time getting the interest that NCAA does purely base on college and regional affiliations. Its going to be hard to break that tradition. At best, the league's main draw will be raw one year talents who you barely know.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

I'm not sure why the nba would care. But NCAA would be looking to shut him down for sure.
