It's how I feel too. I think Trump's base in particular is more than 50% racist nazi sh@#heads. These are people I grew up with in Ohio - they all used to be Union Democrats, which is the main reason my parents always voted third party candidates. We had no illusions. They used to be "our" deplorables so their despicable behavior was fine, but now that they're Trump's deplorables they are evil incarnate. And you guys were right about Bill Clinton all along too. Ok? Ok.
Democrats need to focus on grassroots local issues, representing the people that got them elected (*cough BLACK WOMEN cough*), and
focus less on hating the other side. It's satisfying but all it does is turn people off to politics and lowers turnout. Like Danica Roem, don't be the party of LBTQ+ issues, be the party of solving traffic issues. Solve real world problems and people will forgive you of just about everything. I will vote for the next candidate of either party who plans to solve the opioid crisis by decriminalizing it and expanding Obamacare provisions for trying to lure people into rehab. That's my single issue I'll be voting about in 2020.
My sister the doctor says the main problem with the opioid crisis is the requirement in the doctor's manual (or whatever it's called) that pain be treated. That means if a patient complains of pain and you don't treat it, you are liable for malpractice. Boom, opioid addiction epidemic. I don't know how to fix that part of it.
I agree with everything you're saying but the bolded. I think it's very important to point out Nazis being Nazis and pedophiles being pedophiles. Shrugging off the deplorable behavior of the deplorables lets them off the hook and enables them to obfuscate and draw false equivalencies with the other side.
All of the whataboutisms are a lot easier to pull off when people see the two sides as being the same. Ultimately that leads to lots of gullible and easily manipulated folks voting against their own interests, or declaring "both sides are the same so I'm gonna vote for the guy who wants to kill terrorists more and cut my taxes more" or whatever laughable calculation most Trump-voting middle class white suburban morons are making.
i said this 4 months ago. You guys wont negotiate. Nothing has changed. You have closed your eyes and deluded yourself that you can over turn a presidential election. So you have obstructed, obfiscated, and out right lied through your teeth to each other. And thats why your media lies back to you everyday. They are in the business of telling you what you want to hear so as to keep you watching.
In short. You need to grow up as a political ideology.
if you want to be a part of the decision making process then we independents and conservatives need come to the table on your knees with olive branches.
here's the first words out of your mouth:
1. Bring Obama with you and here's what he says "We appologize for booby trapping the entire intellignce and DOJ against an incoming administration." we were concerned but after 13 months of investigating, we found nothing.
2. "In fact, Russiagate was a fraud brought to you by in large part dirty cops playing politics at the top of the food chain at the DOJ." there was no collusion and the all the democrats stand next to Obama hold his had and say, we are sorry.
3. "We see you have made major changes and we see you are very capable of making more major changes. We'd like to be a part of those changes for the betterment of the american people."
4. "We will leave our talking points and wild far left views at the door so as to not continue to waste time. If you can meet us in the middle so as to have bi-partisan legislation we would love that."
5. "will you please take us back, we promise to help this administration the greatest it can be."
That's you only hop folks because with tax cut for 80% of the american public, a roaring economy, wages rising, GDP healthy and rising, Unemployment dipping....with all that?? I'm sorry you are not getting congress back in 2018. Nor in 2020.
like i said, its a full rebuild.
