What's hilarious is that Canaan is actually younger than Mike James. He's bad and already 27

He tried to play bigger than his expected role..this happens to alot of fringe nba players.

"He tried to play bigger than his expected role." I can live with this argument

BUT he does not suck!!! can be good piece as a 7,8 man coming from the bench and give you scoring. he can create his own shot and is more athletic than you might think

I dont watch Suns, but I watched Mike James in the Euroleague, and never really thought he looked like a guy who needs NBA contract. The fact he got it is super random to me. If he never gets another NBA contract, no one should shed a tear.

He has like 20 PPG one random year for the Raptors too. I doubt he ever came close to those type of numbers again.

There are many many many guys who can give you 10 point on 11 shooting possessions a night. He does suck. He is not a 7th or 8th man. He has almost room to grow as a 27 year old. I would be shocked if he got a deal elsewhere

He's the same age as Jordan Crawford, but way worse than Crawford, and Crawford can't even find a job

He looked like an NBA player to me when I saw him, granted that has been limited. I don't doubt that he shows up on another NBA squad soon enough.

It's not like the Suns don't have a history of undervaluing small guards...they pushed IT out the door too.

You guys are all wrong.

Well not wrong, but the primary reason was his attitude (As well as his overall less than stellar play). Dude didn't get along with coaches, got into cursing matches with them, etc.

He's 27, thinks he's much better than he actually is, and takes minutes from better and younger players

OK. Since you are not interested enough to find out, and just want to rip.

1. He reached his 45 day max on the two-way contract so the Suns were forced to convert him.
2. They signed Isaiah Canaan as a replacement for Booker (hardship approved by the league) to give them more guard depth.
3. Surprisingly, Canaan has played extremely well and his teammates are excited to have him. The second team, led by Canaan has won three games for the Suns sans Booker.
4. Canaan just came in and beat out James for the job.

James gets an entire season of guaranteed salary and a got a true chance to show himself on the big stage. Good for him. Canaan is a much better shooter, floor leader, and distributor than James. Good for the Suns.

Nothing else to see here.

Why did pelicans released jordan crawford? Because he's an inefficient chucker who can't guard nobody.

Yes. His 45 days were up. Their only other pg on the roster was Ulis. So they either had to cut him (which they could not because they had no other pg) or sign him.

Everytime I've watched him he has balled out. Shocked to hear he sucks.

He looked like G league material the two games I saw him play. I was surprised he was on an NBA roster to be honest.

The Suns front office deserve plenty of criticism, but seriously? people are mocking them now for releasing Mike James?

This was a pretty basic business decisions:

  • Suns couldn't retain both James and Canaan - and had to decide who to cut (canaan was signed with an injury exemption).
  • Canaan out performed James by a pretty wide margin
  • Canaan is younger than James
  • James had a tendency to play hero ball. When he was on, he would score points in a bunches. When he was off, we would be an ice cold chucker. Canaan has played like a more natural PG for the Suns.

I understand that James has been a feel good story this season, and that it's been easy to mock the suns front office - but criticizing the suns for choosing Canaan over James is really reaching.
